20 gb Ipod for £129.99
Sorry if this place has been mentioned before, but whilst looking at Ipods on amazon, in the new and used section they had this place http://www.weshopuk.co.uk/mp3.htm which appears to be selling all kinds of stuff on the cheap. It sounds a bit dodgy to me. Does anyone know anything about them?
Thanks in advance
My god they are cheap....
What is their feedback like on Amazon?
Oh my God, Bear is driving! How can that be?
RE: 20 gb Ipod for £129.99
Hi,
never dealt with them before, but the prices do look too good to be true - £84.99 for an iPod MINI, etc. They only seem to accept NoChex for payment, which means you get no cover from either NoChex, or your credit card company, if the goods never show. Strangely, if you check them out on NoChex, they have "elected not to make public their feedback" - can`t think of any good reason they`d do that, but loads of negative ones!
At the end of the day, they do have a postal address, so you may have some recourse if it all goes pear-shaped, however, I`ll not be dealing with them any time soon

Just had a chat with them via their Live Chat on their website... it went like this....
We Shop Uk: Hello. How may I assist you?
you: Have seen your website, via Amazon
you: got to ask - how come your prices are so cheap?
We Shop Uk: ok
you: I`m after an iPod, and those prices are amazingly cheap
We Shop Uk: because we are buying them from Manufacture
you: Oh ok. So they are full working retail iPods?
We Shop Uk: yes
you: I see that I can buy it via Nochex.. would I send my address and details that way too?
We Shop Uk: yes
We Shop Uk: that would be fine
you: Ok, thanks for your time
We Shop Uk: Thank you for visiting. Please contact us at anytime.
I`m very intrigued. Obviously if they are 100% legit, I`m going to get one. But what interests me, is their feedback on Amazon.co.uk...

"good seller"

Notice the names of the buyers.... and the fact that the comments are almost identical and left on the same day... :/
Oh my God, Bear is driving! How can that be?
Strange, both of the above buyers appear as sellers here. I personally wouldn`t touch this with a bargepole.

Apparently they`ve been running for ten months, though when I asked if they had any feedback anywhere they said no. Strange, dontcha think?
Upon seeing this evidence, I`m steering well clear. As I suspected the persons leaving feedback and the company itself are one and the same thing.

DODGY..
if it sounds too good to be true it usually is!
It just looks like a normal chat window you get comes up on some type of sites/forums. It could just be a guy sat at home you were talking to.
I had this secenario spring to mind when you place an order (names are ficticious).
"Oi, Dave, we`ve got an order"
Dave phones local shoplifter.
Dave: "we`d like a 20gb Ipod, local Dixons / Currys type store should be a good un"
Shoplifter returns with said Ipod a few hours later.
Dave packages item and ships to online buyer.
Sounds like an ideal scenario for ringing stolen goods. If it were true, and not just a thought that popped into my head. ;)
Mark. :)
RE: 20 gb Ipod for £129.99
I saw something either on this forum, or maybe on moneysaving, they were also discussing how cheap this place was.
Something they mentioned was about the address being for one number in a road (eg. 123) and the postcode being for number 400 !!!
Very strange, don`t know anything other than this, thought it may be of help.
If only everything was half price at Woolies !
The website is obviously a home made job. Also look at terms where it specifies you can pay by credit card even though when you try to order that option isn`t available. The terms have obviously been copied and pasted from another website (hint try looking at www.mountainescenes.co.uk and have a look at their terms).
This seems like a foreign student at Bristol University trying to make a quick buck. I say foreign because the English is terrible apart from the bits where he has copied and pasted text from other websites.
Also, a friend challenged him on the live chat and exposed him as a con artist. You will find the live chat probably doesn`t work anymore!
Further investigation shows that this "company" has NOT been around for 10 months as was claimed above. The website domain was only registered 2 weeks ago!
