RE: Free Norton Antivirus with 6 Month Subscription
I personally would not bother with any of the Norton Products as I think there are products out there that perform equally as well (if not better) that are not so resource hungry and are much cheaper (even FREE ... with free updates).
Have a look at www.homepclinks.com for an idea of what free alternatives there are available on the internet.

Yeah, don`t bother paying for Norton or McAfee (just because they sell sh**loads doesn`t mean that they`re actually any good - look at Robbie Williams ;)
Go for AVG Free Edition, it`s great
RE: Free Norton Antivirus with 6 Month Subscription
I used to use AVG but that was failing to detect certains viruses. In the end I chose Avast definately the best free one. Norton was absolutely shlte, made my P C crash on shutdown.

I settled on AVG from Grisoft.
Norton was a nightmare and wouldn`t uninstall properly - had to format the hard drive !
RE: Free Norton Antivirus with 6 Month Subscription
I switched from Norton (AND I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE because it stoppped my email from working, as well as slowing my PC to a crawl), to AVG for a while, before settling on Avast, only because I thought the updates were more regular than AVG, and afterall, your protection is only as good the last definitions loaded. In the end, I think it comes down to which one you personally prefer, so get them both (AVG and Avast), try them, and keep the one you feel more comfortable with.
I did read on another board somewhere a while back, that one guy was running both AVG and Avast on his single PC without any conflicts, but I have not tried that myself, so I don`t know if this is possible, or even worthwhile.
I have never suffered from the affects of a computer virus (and touch wood, never will), but I have suffered from Spyware (machine slowing down and IE hijackers etc), thinking that these would not get past my firewall and anti-virus - WRONG!! >:(
In the end, I purchased SpySweeper and that fixed my problems!! I now also use ALL the anti-spyware products featured on www.homepclinks.com. Afterall, most are FREE and what one may miss, another may well pick up.
My parting tip... you can`t have too much protection in this day and age, so make sure your Spyware protected as well as Virus protected!! ;)
