Unfortunately these use Sony`s own s***e SonicStage software to transfer the files. It`s a truly awful piece of software.

Says the nonce with the ipod, who only gets to listen to 3 tracks before his battery runs out.

....but it does has a battery life that is approx. 2 times longer than most of it`s competitors and is smaller than most too.
...I haven`t found an Argos store local to me with one in stock though...:-(

Precisely my point Neil. The Sony has an excellent battery life. The ipod`s battery life is p*** poor. Chris Gould obviously has an ipod and wanted to slag the Sony off. I`ve seen it so many times. The problem is, the argument has no legs to stand on. I really don`t understand why people slag off the Sonic Stage software so much. It does it`s job, unless you are a picky muppet that likes to find every little tiny thing possible to moan about all the time.
So to all those people..... Give it a rest..... You`re not big and your not clever!!
Thanks sixfingers, it was worth it for me too!!

But hasn`t Sonicstage recently made the news because its such a bug ridden piece of software?
I`ve used it extensively and it`s not that bad, but its not that good either.
Giggity giggity!

Not a bad price, buts its a old model. And sonicstage really does suck balls. Seriously. Made the mistake of getting an MP3 Minidisc before MP3 players became ubiquitous and it is a shabby piece of s***. Personally I wouldnt let Sony install anything on my PC nowadays.
But 20gigs for a shade under a ton is good by any standards and if I was on the lookout for a budget, i would certainly consider this. In all fairness, they may make gimpy software and suspect DRM policies, but I havent heard a Sony that sounds like crap.
And no, I dont own an I-Pod......I own a Rio Karma, and they dont even make those f***ers anymore.........
What im listening to (if youre interested)

No but Sony have released a version of SonicStage without all the bells and whistles which people had found irritating (e.g. you used to have to use the `Connect` website, Sony`s music download site). This release works for all network walkman devices, so old NetMD users can use it.
Critics of this release have said that it is Sony admitting that their software is cr*p...
Simple Burner is also available, which is really easy to use, but critics fail to mention that.

It only seems suspect now because other manufacturers did not have the balls to stand up honestly against piracy, don`t you think?
Sony, I believe, took the ballsy decision and tried to control copies robustly, which in principle was a good step... they have paid the price for their decision though through poor sales.
Other manufacturers are happy to make millions from these players, knowing that a high percentage are full of illegal media...hardly ethical.
Speech over,
Neil.
