I think even THO would notice one of these if I tried to sneak it into the house.

I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.

Sounds pretty good at the money but what about the hidden costs?!?

For example - can anyone give me a quote for knocking through my living room and study to accommodate it?

:)

If you use this viewing distance calculator for this screen size.
http://www.myhometheater.homestead.com/viewingdistancecalculator.html

Maximum recommended SMPTE viewing distance - 6.8 ft
Maximum THX viewing distance - 7.9 ft
Recommended THX viewing distance - 5.6 ft

So I guess it is really intended for very small rooms!

My concern would be getting it fixed if there was a post-warranty fault. I had one of the Sonix LCD TVs from Sainsburys. Great until it failed, but no option to get it fixed, only a refund (about 6 months old). With LG and Samsung 50" sets just scraping under the £2K mark I would have to stretch that bit extra (They are also IDTV sets).

Incidentally I believe that Sonix may be a marketing label of Orion.
