Aldi Tevion 40" LCD TV instore for £849 from 7 September

Looks like it could be good deal to me. The specifications look good but sorry I don`t have much knowledge on technical stuff, I bought mine in December last year and these specs look good from what I was after back then after looking about, but by now there are probably about 100 different features/ minimum standards to expect.

Main specs per Aldi website

Huge 40" Samsung LCD panel with anti-reflective coating
Fully HD Ready LCD TV with HDMI interface - no loss of picture or sound
1366 × 768 pixel resolution
Includes 2 HDMI ports
Contrast ratio 1200:1
Brightness: 500cd/m2
HDTV (480i, 480p, 1080i, 720p) with HDCP decoding
Digital audio amplifiers with 2 × 15W speakers

I`d guess it should be bargain for anyone who is looking for budget range LCD in 40" range. If you want to get further information I`d recommend looking about avforums.com. But bear in mind you have to take some people with a pinch of salt as they will slate the picture on a below £1,000 screen, but are doing this compared to their £2,000 plus screens (which will be out of my price range for a while yet and also I guess for most people reading this post ;) . )

I`ve also noticed a lot of people struggle to see the problems that other people have with the picture quality and are quite happy with the pictures on their TV`s, because don`t forget most people who will review TV`s for the net know their stuff and have top end setups, and will obviously pick up on decreases in quality.

I saw this too and am tempted to get it, the only thing concerning me is the contrast ratio being 1200:1, I thought the standard was 3000:1 and a good set would be 5000:1.

They also do not say what the screen refresh speed is.

But as you say £849 for a 40" tv, wall bracket and a 3 year guarantee can`t be all that bad.

All the best

Gerald.

My dad has been going about this TV for a bit, but there wasn`t a price. I think I know where I`ll be on Thursday morning. :)

Thanks.

Got the magazine with this one in today. As well as the Samsung screen, which I believe are good quality, it has a LG tuner built in and the wall bracket is a tilting one which normally cost £30+. Add a 3 year warranty which must be worth a few bob and it looks like a good buy.
