Possibilty of a Freecom 160gb External HDD for £39.99 if Steve from SVP can get 200+ people interested. Aparently he has 45 sign-ups so far according to his post on DvD Forums. He has also said the offers available to anyone.

Quote:
Hi Guys

A rather different offer, or potential offer I should say. If I get 200 people interested I`ll do the deal.

If this works out we can supply a Freecom 160GB external hard drive similar to the one pictured below (colour may vary) for an incredible £39.99.

Freecom make good external drives that look good and work well.

If you would like to buy one of these drives (assuming I am able to get 200 people who are interested) then please email 061moceerf[at]ku.oc.pvs with a subject line of "I would like a cheap Freecom 160GB Hard Drive"

As soon as we reach 200 genuine looking signups we`ll email everyone who has signed up with instuctions for how to buy the hard drive.

From what I can see from my investigations this will be the cheapest 160 external hard drive in the UK, in fact I`m stuggling to even find an 80GB as cheap as this!

Steve
www.svp.co.uk

He has said in later posts that the drives will be brand new from Freecom and be limited to 3 per customer.

Bryan

Spot on
This product is a 10/10. I already had the 400gb drive and loved it so much that I ordered a 500gb one. Same great product. Uses a different AC plug than the other model. I have the 400 and the 500gb drives sitting on top of either other, and they are still silent.

Well met by Storage
Ordered Tuesday evening last week arrived Thursday afternoon. Bought 500gb PnP did full format to Ntfs no probs at all. Heats up evenly but thats how the aluminium cases dissipates the drives heat.

I love it

***Just got an email ticket by reply.... dont know if that means i have been allocated one or not?***

I think that is an allocation mate, when he gets at least 200 sign-ups you`ll be mailed again with payment instructions.

I wouldn`t mine a 500GB harddrive, if they could do a group buy on that I would be in!

MS999 has had some bad experiences with ebuyer (as have others), and nevers misses an opportunity to diss them. I, and others, have had no problems with them. I think they are probably best only used when you can`t get the same deal elsewhere. It seems the price has now gone up at ebuyer and Amazon has the best deal for the drive. I think most people are happy with the WD drive.

The Freecom 160GB is alright if that is the sort of capacilty you need, the WD offers more GB per £ though.

only ever bought three things from them... one was permanently out of stock, even though i received a despatch notice, the other two were both faulty... i think the items they sell are a great price, if you want to risk their appalling customer services? but i do agree with bytemaster

you pays your money you takes your choice... ;) SVP on the other hand their depot is local to me so i can collect and avoid their sometimes high shipping costs, but their service is excellent... i am sure soembody out there will have had a bad experience though?

I`ve had a couple, but wouldn`t say particularly bad hence never said anything.
Once sent completely wrong format discs (Sent me + not -) and I didn`t notice for a couple of weeks, so just let it go.
Had a couple of damaged boxes delivered but had them replaced quick enough to prevent moaning.

Actually, the only one thing that really hacked me off was last time I ordered. My orders (not that I`m a huge purchaser, probs only ordered about 6 times in total) are always about the £30 to £40 mark, twice hitting the ton area.
On my last order a mail had just gone out with the two quid voucher (few months back). I got the mail on the Tuesday *after* the offer finishing on the Sunday!
Sent in a mail to ask if anything could be done and was basically told "no", and this was after the order had been placed so not just trying to get something before ordering.

Now I find my mails don`t get to me at all. My Prefs are set to receive them but they just don`t arrive. A friend forwards their mail now when they receive it so I know what deals are out there, but usually a lag of a few hours at least.
Few things lately out of stock as I went to purchase :(

They usually do have good service and great prices though so I`ll still use them.
