I went for the M7695, tried link, didn`t work. It`s still £335.

Should arrive Monday or Tuesday, I`ll report back. not looking forward to installing XP ro on to a SATA drive, given the lack of floppy, but I couldn`t not buy it at that price.

Asda are doing an Evesham core2Duo machine now too. 17" TFT and usual crap software bundle but iirc, 120gb hard drive, gig ram and can`t remember the rest but it was £350 new, boxed.

Have to say I was temped when I saw it but this one is still running well after about 6 or 7 years (yeah, I know! But it was one of the first HTT models :-D)...oh, and that`s with the standby addidtion of an extra graphics card `cos mine seems about to explode thanks to a very generous Reviewer member.....who I still owe a return favour...

Anyone spot this disclaimer? (I saw it looking at the m770)
"This item is the base unit only & does not come with operating system, remote control, keyboard or mouse.
HP Ex-Demo fully tested, repackaged and re-boxed by HP with 6 Months warranty "

I know you can get a cheap keyboard and mouse, I know you can get a cheap Media Centre Remote control (compatible type) but no operating system?

Soz, but to me having no operating system defeats the purpose of having a Media Centre unit and the only advantage I can see is that you get Media Centre hardware and another copy of MC will install on the unit.

Hopefully they will still have the Product Key sticker on the side/back of the unit, at least then you can install someone else`s disc on it as I believe you are actually buying the product licence key and not the actual CD rom when you purchase MC.

`Course I could be wrong and seriously hope that`s a "general" disclaimer and they actually send out a complete unit.

not that I suggest it, but it`s always possible to use another copy of the disk like you said, however you could just use a linux distro? There are a lot of programs out that let a linux installation act like a media centre, see here or a more simplistic solution, see here instead!

It`s hardly a disclaimer, it`s part of the product description. No different from buying a pc from anyone else, they either include OS or don`t. This one doesn`t.

I have a volume licence XP Pro, so no problem. Not interested in running Media Center.

Still haven`t received my PC tho`, awaiting an explanation from parcelforce as definitely shipped, tracking number valid, but doesn`t confirm status.

Still waiting for my bike, game boy game and xbox game as well. One little boy is going to get a pile of IOUs for his birthday at this rate.
