Iomega External 500gb Drive £62.99 - Comet
Just found this while searching for a new drive, then while I was searching for reviews realised it was on Hot Deals as a bargain, so thought I ought to post it here too.
At Comet for £69.99, but with a discount code on the page it goes down to £62.99
If you go for Collect in Store, remember to put in the discount code before you go looking for the store.
Think I`ll be picking one up tomorrow unless someone tells me they`re terrible in the meantime :D

I assume lol means don`t buy one? :D I`m never going to make a decision at this rate :D

Don`t panic. The joke is that the spec reads 8.5 Seconds, it should read MILLIseconds. If a drive had an 8.5 second average access time it would be quicker to walk to the library for the data.
You asked about this drive in another post, I would think that it is a fairly safe purchase. All the reports, that I have seen, indicate that these units have Seagate drives. My only concern regarding third party externals would be if they were fitted with Maxtor or Hitachi drive units.

Lol, yes, it suddenly came to me this morning, I must have been especially dense last night. :D
I think I`ll probably end up going for this one as I can only find a very few bad reviews, and most seem to be fairly quick failures, within minutes/days. I really wanted a Western Digital Mybook originally, but there are just too many bad reviews for me to feel safe buying one.
Thanks for the advice :)
