You need a dish to pick up signals with this. It should fit on the end of a Sky mini dish if you want to get the Free to Air channels but it will drive a DiSEqC motor and so you can watch channels from different satellites.
With the CI you can add two cards from subscription channels (not Sky though).
If you are looking at getting a reciever I would suggest the Dreambox. About twice as expensive for the entry model but will allow you to use a Sky card and other things as well.

For anyone not keen on rigging up a motorised dish on the outside of their house, don`t forget that you CAN get a Free to air card from Sky for £20, and then watch over 100 channels for nothing (and all the radio stations) on Sky.
We bought 2 second hand receiver boxes with all the wires and conenctors needed, and set them up ourselves with our existing Sky dish to get Freesat in our kitchen and kids` bedroom a year or two back. Very little cost and much better than Freeview, if you don`t mind not having the E4, More4 and Film4 channels. (which we don`t watch anyway)
