I need to buy a DVD player as a gift and want to know the cheapest one I can get.

Comet have an ORITRON DVD1030. Not sure how good it is. Try the Hardware fourum on this site (dvdreviewer).

Richer Sounds have an Acoustics Solution DVD521 for £79.95 and its Multi Region as well.

Dunno if its any good or not tho`.

in relation to the alba player from argos. this is an abysmal player that doesnt like `dark` films and wont play all discs.

you get what you pay for.....

Ive had mine for 7 months from argos and Ive never had any problems playing any region dvds!

What he means is that the Alba has a number of problem discs out there resulting in severe pixellation problems

have you tried playing the R1 T2 ultimate edit???

The new AKURA 12s is made in the same factory as TOSHIBA. My mate has the Toshiba 210 & after comparing the two is selling the Toshiba.The Akura does not have the Toshiba Lip sync problem on SVCDs.. The old Akura was indeed a Mitsubishi Black Diamond. Due to a cock up I have not got my Akura from `Shop` and they have sold out of the Akura`s at the mo`. I have been told Courts, Littlewoods * Index have them by AKURA, but none of them have them. At £99-00. It looks a fantastic buy to me & seems to knock socks off everything else....If you can obtain one.

Tesco`s did have a handfull of Dansai`a knocking around the Wrexham store for £49.99 dont know if any of the other store`s are doing the same deal?
