RE: Shure SE110 Sound Isolating Earphones in white half price (with code)

I ordered a pair last week and they arrived - top stuff. Thanks to the OP.

Tried to order another pair today to give as a XMAS pressy and it says the voucher has expired - boo hoo!

Oops - read the fine print - voucher can only be used once!

RE: BEKO 32WLK530HID Silver 32 inch LCD TV only £100 delivered

Apologies if this has already been posted but if you pay via a DEBIT card with a VISA logo you are apparently still covered by the VISA chargeback scheme. The average bank staff may claim to know nothing about it but if you contact VISA direct they will confirm this is the case and then you can use this with the bank.
You still have to claim the money from your bank though...

Check in and Security check times at Heathow mid week evening??

Has anyone recently travelled on a midweek late evening flight from Heathrow (I have a 10pm flight on a Teusday)?

Just trying to get an idea of how much time I should allow for check in and security checks etc. I am travelling with two kids (who like most get bored very easily) and dont want to get there too early. Some one my missus spoke to claimed we should get there at least 4hrs before the departure time!??

I was thinking more like 2-3hrs??

Any one with recent experience?

Thanks in advance!

RE: Nikon D40 DSLR Incl.18-55mm lens under £320 delivered.

The D50 is an older camera but in many people`s opinion is bit more of a pro model than the D40. The D40 is seen by some as a dumbed down D50.

I was all set to buy a D40 but then after reading quite a few photo websites decided to get a D50. One other advantage of the D50 is that it is compatible with far more lenses than the D40 - very important for us Bargain hunters who dont mind a used lens to save money. In fact all my lens purchases for the D50 have been 2nd hand - either off Ebay or camera shops. At least two of these lenses would have limited functionality with the D40 (and D40x).
One of the bigger online DLSR retailers recently had a bargain on the D50 kit - cant remember which one thought - sorry.

RE: Fujifilm Finepix 6MP x10 Optical zoom S6500fd £150...

Get some Hybrid Rechargeables - once charged will retain power for 6-9 months.

I bought some Hybrio off Ebay - came ready charged in the packaging. Popped open a packet and stuck them in my Nikon Flashgun. Reckon I got at least 250 flashes before they ran out.

They can be charged with most slow / fast chargers (except perhaps some of the new sub 1hr chargers - not sure)

RE: How long is a reasonable time to wait for a DVD recorder repair?

The player was about 6 months old when the drive finally failed - but thinking back I think it may have been a bit dicky from the word go. It seemed to have problems reading quite a few of my DVDR discs which had been fine on my previous DVD player and the problems seemed to get worse until it eventually failed to play anything.

The problem is hopefully resolved now - I rang the Customer services number yesterday and asked them politely how long they thought was reasonable a wait. Once I gave the guy my details he apologised for my problems (sounded like he meant it) and promised to look into it and get back to me.

Sure enough he rang me back within an hour and had arranged for the store to provide me a new replacement as he could not provide a date for the repair to be done. Heading over there this evening to collect the new unit.

Pretty good huh! I cant imagine the same resolution at Curries / Comet etc - probably would have wanted me to keep waiting.

How long is a reasonable time to wait for a DVD recorder repair?

Reposting this here as I have had no replies in the Retailer forum...

Handed my Panasonic DVD recorder in for repair at Richer sounds on 12th August but still not got it back - nor can I get any idea of when the repair will be done - despite many phone calls to the store.

I didnt bother buying their Supercare as I was a bit strapped and also figured a Panasonic would not break!!

What do people think is a reasonable time to wait before I start making a fuss? Checked the Consumer Direct website but it just talks about `reasonable time` - wot a week, month, 2 months??

Getting a bit impatient here as there is some new series I want to record and I dont have a DVD player so cant even watch any DVDs. Yes I know I could buy a standalone player but dont have the space for it.

Any feedback from people with experience of the Richer sounds repair service appreciated.

RE: 11 charged in terror plot.

Just to add a further point to rehans reply, Islam does not even permit the burning down of crops belonging to the `enemy` during times of war - let alone the killing of innocent men, women and children - so this so called label of `Islamic` terrorism is bull**it. You cannot kill non-combatants in the name of Islam - period!

Just cos some nutters think they are doing something for their religious beleifs does not make it correct and part of the religion. I think a minority of people of all religions have done some seriously mental stuff in the name of religion. Personally I think someone who is prepared to blow himself probably belongs in a loony bin.

RE: broadband who do you recommend?

I recommend IDNet - not the cheapest but definitely superb service.

RE: 10 x Short Question`s for a FREE RAZOR ??

Did anyone get theirs?
I applied weeks ago and then told a mate about it who also applied.

He got a manual Fusion over a week ago. I still havent received anything!

RE: Ebuyer.. Change in Shipping Policy??

I too have been using Ebuyer for many years.
I always tend to use the standard shipping option because they often send the items out earlier than the selected date and since they always seem to use CityLink next day I usually get the goods earlier than expected.

However, for the first time something different happened. I placed an order on Monday and selected standard shipping with a delivery date of Friday. I received an Order dispatched email just 24 hrs after placing my order but the tracking number didnt work on the CityLink site. When I chased the Ebuyer customer support the guy told me that the email meant that my order had been picked and was ready for despatch but had not been sent out yet. It would probably go out on Thursday for Friday delivery.

I checked the tracking number every day on the CityLink website and it was only recognised this morning and the status confirmed the order was only collected Thursday evening.

So, have they changed the policy to try and encourage people to get round the people like me who always select the cheaper option knowing full well that they probably gets the goods sooner anyway? If so, what a dumb idea!

RE: Gillette Alternative

How are the ASDA onces when it comes to rinsing the hairs out between strokes?

I tried the Sainsbury own brand (unpowered) but found the blades didnt clean as easily as Gillette Mach3 so I went back - I have very dense packed stubble!

With the Gillette I just pop under the tap for a second and it clears out - but with the Sainsbury one I had to turn the water up and hold it for longer - thereby increasing the overall shave time.

RE: Free Gillette razor.....

Got mine yesterday and yes you can use other MACH3 blades with the M3 handle - I already have one from before last Xmas but ordered the Freebie as a spare.
I have been using my old stock of Mach 3 turbo blades with the M3 handle for nearly 3 months.

One thing to bear in mind for first time M3 users - once you feel the battery level dropping change it - it really makes a difference to the smoothness. I changed the battery on mine midway through a shave this morning and it felt much smoother with the new battery. For the record the original battery lasted me nearly 11 weeks with 5-6 shaves a week but I did notice the level drop a week or so ago.

RE: Intempo DAB radio under £30

Good luck getting the better model.

I had a similar scenario with them but they refused to provide the better model - a refund or nothing.

RE: CD/DVDROM Drive knackered in Laptop - where to go for replacement?

Check out the following:

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/productinfo.asp?WebProductID=356326

Samsung SH-W082 Black Slim Notebook 16x16 DVD±RW Dual Layer OEM

£50.82 inc Vat

RE: CD/DVDROM Drive knackered in Laptop - where to go for replacement?

Just be aware that some Panasonic Internal drives are actually 9.5mm - especially on the newer IBMs etc.

Just double check the existing model number is 12.7mm (apologies if the previous poster has already done this)

RE: Thinkpad System disk

I was doing it over a evening - laptop in one room and me in another occasionally checking up on it - so it took a few hours but I expect if you sat there continously feeding the CDs as soon as it asks them it might take around 2hrs at a guess.

I think it does some serious compressing - hence not as many discs required as expected.

I have bought an external DVD writer and did another backup using DVDs and it the whole lot fitted on 2 DVDs and took around 1.5-2hrs - cant remember exactly

RE: Thinkpad System disk

I just bought a Thinkpad a few weeks back and it took 7 CDs to backup.

RE: Thickie wireless question!

If you arent ready for ADSL just yet you might want to pick up a Wireless DIAL-UP modem using the BT On-Air technology.

A couple links I found...

I think there were some some issues with XP SP2 but reading the reviews on the BT site people seem to be working fine with SP2.

RE: Another ebay thread/question.

Email Ebay and ask them to explain their actions.

They cancelled one of my auctions a while back because it had a link to the Manufacturers website with futher details on the item I was selling.

They gave the reason for cancellation as an inappropriate link. I emailed them and they apologised for their mistake.

In the event it worked in my favour because I had also advertised the item in Loot and that evening I got a cash buyer whilst I was still waiting for Ebay to reply - saved me cancelling the auction and paying Ebay fees!

RE: Is Amtrak always this rubbish?

I am in Essex and served by the Basildon Amtrak depot.

Finally got my order on Friday afternoon around 1:30pm and I think this only becuase I rang Amtrak head office and spoke to a helpful lady in customer liasons who chased the depot for me. She was not able to offer any explanation on why I had to wait two extra days.

Have emailed Savastore asking for a refund of my delivery charge but dont expect them to reply. I think I will take this up with my card company when I get my next bill. I am not going to pay for the next day delivery!

RE: Is Amtrak always this rubbish?

They did it again!!

This morning the website states that they carded me yesterday at 10:58am - bunch of lying t**ts!

Is Amtrak always this rubbish?

Placed an order with Savastore on Tuesday and paid for next day delivery.

Receieve and email confirming Goods were despatched and promising Next Day delivery.

Waited in all day Wednesday, outer door ajar, 3 people in the house at all times and Door bell definitely working. No Amtrak.

This morning the website tracking claimed I had been Carded at 10am. Dont think so - was in the house at 10am in the front living room and NO CARD was left.

Sent the Depot a fax last night highlighting the above and asking them to ring me.

After ringing the local depot many times this morning I managed to get through. Was assured that a re-delivery attempt would be made today.

So, stayed in at home allday today and guess what - no Amtrak and no card.

Tried ringing the Depot between 4:30pm and 5:30pm a few times but each time gave up after 10-15mins on hold.

What a load of Bo**ocks!

RE: Anybody recomend a decent dvd recorder

Was typing this with a bad cold / flu ... :D

RE: Anybody recomend a decent dvd recorder

I tracked down a Panasonic ES20 from the Richer Sounds in Romford - they still had some Multi Region units in stock - think I got the last R2 unit.

I really love this device - I keep discovering new features - latest one is the Child Lock which stops the buttons on the front of the unit working - which is just perfect as I have a 14month old who can resist pressing the buttons.
