Photoshop CC + Lightroom 5 for £8.78 per month

RJS (undefined) posted this on Saturday, 15th February 2014, 15:17

I'm sure last time I checked this was something like £25-£35 a month. But today I had a peek and it's just £8.78 a month for 12 months, it might go up a fair bit after that who knows, but until then...

This gets you the latest Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5, plus any updates at that price for a year.

So it's time I retired LR4 and went all new and shiny.

lol, a bargain at only £105+  A YEAR.  I know a few Photoshop users, none of which have moved to the newer subscription based model.

If you just buy a single version of Lightroom (cheapest price atm for that is around £80) and then a single version of Photoshop CS6 (say £330), and then never upgrade ever again, then perhaps the total cost of £106 a year vs £410 does seem expensive.

And that is just the entry level Photoshop, not the extended version. If you wanted that you can take that price up to £580 for PS alone.

Still seem expensive?

Assuming they keep the price this reasonable, and assuming you are likely to upgrade LR once a year and PS once every two years, I'm pretty sure it's way cheaper this way than outright buying them.

I'm sure Adobe have spent many years looking at the blatant piracy of Photoshop and Lightroom, and thinking they may as well get regular money every month from lots of people rather than large chunks of money from very few.

Yes, very.

I agree completely that's probably the reason for the change.
The whole idea of 'free' upgrades is quite clever.  The reality though is it's small changes often introduced that very few will use because they'll carry on using the same thing 99% of the time.  Which is probably about 1% of the tool's capability.

That might be true of Photoshop, but Lightroom is getting regular shiny new things every year. And anyway if they keep it at this price then it would take 4 years of renting it before it's more expensive than buying it, without any upgrades being taken into account.

Latest Lightroom CC came out this week, and it adds some really nice new features that I've been wanting for a while:
https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/help/whats-new.html

Face recognition, which I think has come from their Photoshop Album (or whatever it's called) series. Seems to work well but takes ages to scan a huge library and needs a bit of work on the interface responsiveness.

HDR combining of images, with alignment and auto-croppping. Tried this and it works really well, easily as good as the external apps I've been using.

Panoramic stitching, had a quick try and this works really well too. Saves a trip out to Hugin.

Haze removal, which I was really surprised how well that worked.

I needed to do that a few years ago and after doing a bit of googling with my wallet open, I was pleased to find there's a program in windows that does it anyway. and it's pretty good. Can't post any examples at moment as at work, but if you just do a program search for ICE it should come up

Lightroom 6 is only £103.88 as a download from Amazon which I think will be top of my want list when I get the new PC.
Can't say I'm very happy with all the mnthly subscriprion idea.

Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary
