Page 1 of Back to the Future Trilogy Region 4 DVD

I recently ordered this from CDWOW for £17.99, wot a bargain!

I just wanted to know if region 4 can play on region 2 players without having to use a hack. My DVD player has a region free hack anyway but I heard that region 4 plays on most region 2 players.

Some R4 releases are R2/R4 combined region releases and these will play with no problem. I think BTTF is one of these releases.

Plain region 4 will definitely not play on a plain R2 disc.

However, as sashenden says, BTTF is for certain a dual region disc and will play just fine on a R2 machine.

For the uninitiated here...
I am right in thinking that only the R4 release is out now?
If so, what would I gain by waiting for a R2 or R1 release later in the year?
Are some of the extras going to be different on the R2/R1 releases, if not, why the different release dates?

According to Rewind, there appears to be some differences on the Region 1 versions of the movies, ie: Commentaries, deleted scenes and radio spots......
