Region 2 & 4 are they the same.?

Branstylad (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 19th September 2002, 20:56

I`ve noticed recently on several discs that they show as compatible with both Region 2 and Region 4.
Does this mean that discs from Australia will play on Region 2 players that are not multi-region?
I`m slightly confused by this. Any help would be welcome.

No they won`t, some discs are compatible with both regions, but the majority of Aussie discs are exclusively Region 4 and definitely won`t play on a non multiregion region 2 player.

By the way, think this might belong in the software forum.

Certain studios are, others aren`t.

And straightjacket is right...moving to software forum :-)

http://www.michaeldvd.com.au/ is pretty good at noting which R4 disks are also coded for R2
