LG 3350 playing VCDs?

Slackjaw (Harmless) posted this on Monday, 11th December 2000, 13:16

I know it says they don`t play them, but has anybody found a way of doing it. I`ve been thinking about converting discs to an mp2 format as the players has a built in Mpeg decoder, but haven`t had a chance yet. Do you think this`ll work?

What about a mod chip or hack for it?

No the LG 3350 will definitely not play VCDs. LGs response to this question was:

"The VCD (Video CD) option was not added to the specification of LG Electronics UK DVD players so that the purchase price of the DVD player could be reduced. Also as the playback quality of DVD is far superior to that of VCD it was not envisioned that there would be a great demand for a VCD playback option.

Should a firmware update be produced to offer VCD playback support in the future we will publish details on our website bulletin board on how this option may be taken up.

Regards, The LG Electronics Helpdesk"

If fellow LG3350 owners really want VCD playback then I suggest you tell LG this, then they may well drop a firmware for us.
