RE: PHILPS PLUG & PLAY WIDESCREEN...

What`s the verdict on this set, I have been considering it myself? You don`t happen to know of any online reviews do you? I have downloaded the spec sheet but so far that is all I have found.

RE: Pre-order CTHD for £11.99

Thought I`d take a risk and give them a chance. Four hours after receiving my order confirmation email, I received this follow-up email:

- Dear Customer,
-
- We have implemented a new card charging policy.
-
- Under18 will now only debit your credit card as and when each item
- is despatched.
-
- We feel that this is in line with what our Customers would prefer.
- If you have any other suggestions then please do email us back.
-
- Yours, Under18.org.uk

I guess they are listening. . .

RE: LG 3350E

Nice find!

All you new 3350 owners might want to check out http://www.lgdvd.co.uk/ for up-to-date news and information.

RE: LG 3350E - Is something wrong with mine???

It is normal to hear some "seeking" noise whilst the disc is loaded and during navigation of interative menus. However once the main feature is playing it should be an "ear right next to it" job.

RE: lg3200 vs lg3000

Also, the 3200E uses the Zive-3 decoder where as the 3000E uses the Ziva-4. Therefore the 3000E has the better picture quality.

RE: LG3350e -> Amp and Speakers

> What about DTS? Is this also output by the 6 speaker outputs on the back

No, only DD5.1. As you correctly stated you would have to use the digital out and an amp with a DTS decoder.

The cheapest route to go down is a set of active (powered) speakers. I think Creative do a set for around £100. But it is probably worth spending a little more and going for the Videologic Digitheatre LC (no in-built decoder). This of course would just give you the DD5.1.

RE: Built in Digital Decoder..Advantages?

> Having a DD Decoder in a DVD player without six outputs . . .

Agreed, I don`t think such a thing exists. If it doesn`t have the six analogue outputs then it will just be a digital out (coax/optical). In which case no decoding is taking place!

RE: Anyone out there got a macro disabled LG from you-know-who?

But from what people have been told over the phone it may work (you`ve seen the postings). Surely worth giving it a go for the sake of £15? I would go for it myself but I think I should probably get my firmware updated before I start invalidating my warranty.

Oh, and when are you going to become a fully registered member mystery `o` ?

RE: X-Men art gallery workaround for Aiwa 370 and LG owners!

Good info Jimbo. Mind if I add it to my site?

RE: Anyone out there got a macro disabled LG from you-know-who?

Why don`t you give the DIY kit mentioned in my forums a try? You could then extract the code and make your own / publish the info.

RE: Are LG`s anygood?

> Would you prefer me to stop posting to LG threads?

No not at all. It is just that if I was trying to decide between the various LG DVD players I would probably find a link to an LG based website more relevant than an Aiwa one. But hey, it is your choice where you post your link.

> I might be wrong, but can I sense some hostility here. . .

Perhaps understandly so, I don`t appreciate being accused of plagerism (again) and also being told that my posting was incorrect when you have "no experience of the 3200/3000".

> I have said before we should work together.

Agreed. I have also stated this before and suggested working on the PBC menu. However, I guess without the commercial incentive you weren`t interested. [JOKE] :-)

RE: Are LG`s anygood?

> MP3 Troll, not VCD.

I was referring to MP3!

> Didn`t you say that the 3000 uses a Ziva 3?

Nope. I have stated that I suspect the 3200E uses the Ziva-3, but the 3000E definitely uses the Ziva-4.

> Techtronics state their players are modified R2 machines

They lie!

> And thats rich coming from someone who`s title page pic of the player is the techtronics one MIRRORED!

What are you on about Jimbo? Yes I have used two "library" pictures on my review page (one from LG and one from Amazon). All other artwork is my own creation.

> If you check back I think you`ll find your link in many of the previous Aiwa threads.

Only when the post was comparing the relative merits of the Aiwa vs the LG. I don`t make a habit of posting my site in a purely Aiwa thread as it is hardly providing readers with the most relevant information.

> Anyways, before this becomes a slanging match. . .

Not a slagging match. Just ensuring that the CORRECT information gets posted in the forums. :-)

RE: LG3200E - novice needs help, please.

Reports on the internal components of the 3000E suggest that it is almost identical to the 3350E and certainly uses the same highly acclaimed C-Cube Ziva-4 decoder.

Although unconfirmed, I suspect that the 3200E uses the earlier version of this decoder, the Ziva-3.

I have not personally compared the performance of the 3200 and the 3350. But most reviews (if they can be believed) rate the 3200 at 75% and the 3350 at 95%.

Therefore it would seem that is you want the performance of an LG DVD-3350E at a bargain price then go for the LG DVD-3000E.

For more info take a look at http://www.lgdvd.co.uk/

RE: Are LG`s anygood?

Jimbo> So you`ve had it tested with a PRESSED original MP3?

Yes! Well a magazine CD-ROM. I admit not a very usable feature, but playing pressed VCDs is a nice bonus for free.

IT Troll> The LG DVD-3000E would appear be a comparable to an Aiwa 370 but without the support for CD-R/CD-RW.

Jimbo> Incorrect.

Correct!

Jimbo> ...it may be comparable in features, but not in hardware.

Incorrect.

The LG DVD-3000E uses the same board and decoder as the 3350E & Aiwa 370. Complete with the empty sections for DD5.1 decoding and karaoke! As I said, the only difference between the LG DVD-3000E and the Aiwa is support for CD-R/CD-RW.

Therefore:

LG DVD-3000E = Aiwa 370 (without CD-R/CD-RW)
Aiwa 370 = LG DVD-3350E (without DD5.1 decoder)
LG DVD-3350E = Irrefutably ROCKS!!!!!

This makes the 3000E an excellent choice for someone on a budget who isn`t bothered about authoring/playing their own MP3 CD-Rs.

Jimbo> Yeah, but use the first link if you want original information supplied by the finder and provider of such info!

In that case surely you mean http://www.techtronics.com/ :-P

Jimbo> (soz Troll, but you started it! lol)

Hardly, you don`t find me posting my link every Aiwa thread now do you. ;-)

RE: How much is the LG 3350Ee and where from?

Can you? I have only seen the 3200E for sale from them.

If you want to buy from the high street then Dixons and Currys have them for £250. You can but cheaper online (approx. £190) but stocks are generally low eveywhere. Check my site and in particular the forums for more info on availablility.

http://www.lgdvd.co.uk/

RE: Are LG`s anygood?

Jimbo> Nope, the 3200 and 3000 cannot handle CDR or MP3.

Not strictly true. The 3000 can be made to play MP3 (and VCD) but not from CD-R. The LG DVD-3000E would appear be a comparable to an Aiwa 370 but without the support for CD-R/CD-RW. If this is not an issue for you then this is a pretty good player for the price.

Jimbo> More info on http://choosefirst.co.uk

RE: DVD forums hacked!!!!!!!!!!

Some people will do anything just to get the competitive advantage. ;-)

RE: 3 Kings Region 2 probs on LG3350e

I`ve not heard anything regarding this title. Compatibility problems normally result in inaccessible extras or possibly the inability to play at all. I`ve not heard of any problems that result in weird visual effects.

RE: HOW DO YOU GET YOUR FIRMWARE FOR LG 3550E??????

> Troll the top frame on your site is really narrow and I can`t see all the DVD logos and such like

Really? It looks fine on the three PCs I`ve checked it on. What browser are you using?

RE: Question for IT Troll / Jimbo

> Can you elaborate `why not`

Dunno. I`m just going on the info Jimbo came up with. Even the `VCD Ready` LG DVD-3351P will not play S/X/XS/VCDs.

It could be that it is just down to firmware again. After all a two character parameter has changed `Disc Error` into `VCD 2.0 compatible`.

Anyways, what`s up with the MICO?

RE: help needed please for hacking lg 3350e

Do you get COdE appearing on the display?

What is your firmware version?

For instructions on how to obtain this and for a dedicated LG site go to:

http://www.lgdvd.co.uk/

Ooooh! Look who`s got a fancy new URL :-P

RE: Question for IT TROLL or anyone else who knows!

Internally the 3000E appears to be almost identical to the 3350E. The only exceptions being no DD5.1 components and a disc transport that doesn`t support CD-R/CD-RW.

You can get the LG DVD-3350E from Currys if you really want to get it from the high street.

For more info on suppliers etc. pop on over to:

RE: lg2280p,firmware+region hack(ittroll+jimbo)

This is weird!

I thought the current version of the firmware was 1.4 and that LG are still testing the Toy Story/Fight Club fixed firmware, which I presumed would be v1.5
