Help/Advice With Recording

Clairebear (Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 25th February 2003, 16:38

Hi

I`ve got a Philips DVDR980, which I`m using to record onto +RW discs. I then want to edit the files (to remove adverts etc) on my PC and burn them onto -R discs with menus etc using my Sony DVD. Sounds simple enough....

I`ve extracted the files, used NeoDVDplus to edit the vob files & put a menu etc on, but neoDVD then takes hours re-encoding and instead of 4 GB of original files I get 7 GB, which won`t fit on the disc.

Can anyone give me some simple, step by step help as I`m getting in a real mucking fuddle here.

Thanks in advance

Claire

I`m not after the menus, so I`m using Smartripper2.4 to remove macro + region coding using backup setting. Then DVD2ONE to compress and remove anything unwanted, then Nero Vision express to write dvd, whole thing takes about 1 hour, and works beautifully. If you can figure it out, try ifoedit from doom9. May work for you.

Probably a silly question Claire, but have you looked at http://www.dvdrhelp.com ? You should find answers to your questions on there. They`ll also recommend the best tools for the job.

There are thousands of guides for various things, and you can post on the forum on there, as you`ll undoubtedly find there are far more people who can help you on there than there are here.
