Just watched "The Godfather" trilogy......

Jim Morrison (Elite) posted this on Tuesday, 27th May 2003, 00:08

After waiting for weeks for it to arrive, the last three nights have been spent up til 4 watching 1 part per ngiht.

I loved the first movie, it has been promoted to the number 1 spot on YMDB.

The second one was an excellent film that wasn`t quite as good - but still brilliant.

The third was rather disappointing. Everyone has aged and Michael has tried to go legit an d it doesn`t have the same fulfillment of the first 2.

The bonus disc contains some excellent special features - overall an absolute bargain for £17.

I have been wanting this for ages, someday I will finally promote it to the #1 spot on my wishlist and bite the proverbial bullet!

Is this the first time you`ve seen "The Godfather"?

I`d never make a sound judgement of a film with justing one viewing, nevermind put it on the Top of a list.

And why not?

I think it`s obvious that Jim will be watching them again, so why not?

I only saw these films at the end of last year when I received the boxset as a gift. I`m not sure which of the first two films is the best, cause they are both pretty darn good. But the third is a distant last, although not as bad as I had been made to believe.

But £17 is a steal ;-)

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, no matter how wrong it is ;-)

I personally count Part II as my favourite film ever.

Richard, I personally think that someone can form a very accurate opinion of a film from one viewing. If it is compelling enough and draws the viewer in, then it will continue to do so with almost the same power time after time.

The Godfather for me [both parts one and two] stands on top of the mountain in cinematic perfection, they have it all....acting at its very best from some of the soon to be biggest names in the business, a director [whos talent would touch genius more than once in his career] at the very top of his talent, the grand Hollywood-esq return to favour of a bygone superstar, a score unequaled in its simplicity and yet matching its epic scale and last but not least, its one of those few true gems Hollywood gives us that, like a fine wine, truly refuses to age.

Where on earth have you picked this set up for £17.00????

I already have it, but at that price would buy a couple more for gifts.

Apparently one in five people in the world are Chinese. Coming from a family of five therefor one of them must be Chinese. Its either my mum or dad, my older brother Colin or my younger brother Mao Tse Cheung. I think its Colin.

"then it will continue to do so with almost the same power time after time."

Exactly. I have watched films that I really liked upon first viewing, however on repeated viewings, they didn't hold up. Similarly, I have watched films that I disliked on first viewing and on repeated really liked.

I can write reviews and formulate an opinion on a film that I have watched once. But I wouldn't knock it onto a list so hastily. That's all I'm saying.

A bargain over at Littlewoods Extra. If you go to www.avforums.com and look under special offers and trail through the godfather post you`ll find out how there.
