Daredevil

I didn`t watch this in the cinema as it didn`t appeal to me but my
mate persuaded me to get it on dvd as he said that he really enjoyed
it. Anyway, I ordered the R4 version which I got round to watching last
night and I have to admit I was pleasently surprised. Good back story,
not bad sfx and an excellent OTT performance by Colin Farrell as
Bullseye.
The reason I am posting this thread though is to let you know that
this dvd contains one of the best dts 5.1 mixes I`ve heared in quite
a while. The sound design is absolutely tremendous and the quality
of the dts mix is at times amazing. There isn`t a minute that goes by
without the rear channels being utilised in one way or another and
the LFE is a joy. This is one aggressive mix!
Although I didn`t listen to the Dolby Digital version in full, I did compare
a couple of scenes and found it to be lacking the wow factor that the dts
has. It still sounded good but a little muffled.
The picture quality was top notch too. With most of the scenes shot in
the dark, the detail was excellent and I didn`t notice any artefacting or
edge enhancement.
But it`s the demo quality dts soundtrack that stands out on this dvd.
Great stuff !

Yes, one of the better superhero/comic book films out there, and the DVD - streeting on R2 tomorrow (disc of the week, eh Rob?) - looks like a corker. After annoying my neigbours with the DTS on The Patriot: Superbit, which is great BTW, Daredevil will hopefully push them over the edge. :-D

I received the R2 last week and the best thing about it is it is uncut (cut by Fox to try and get a 12A, but it didn`t - so the missing footage has been replaced - along with a few extra crunch noises).

The extras are great, and it is a better two disc set than Spider-Man. The DVD is much the same as the Spider-Man one, as it is split into "Comic" and "Film". I enjoyed the main doc on the comic, but I preferred the one on the film (the hour long one). It looks like they had a great time making it, and you get to see glimpses of footage that will be coming up in the Extended Version. Also, you get to hear Bullseye undubbed line. In the film it is Quote:
"I want a bloody costume"
, but in the doc, it is Quote:
"I want a f*cking costume"
.

I really like this, It`s not as good as the X-Men films or Hulk, but it is on par with Spider-Man. But the film is just too damn short, it needs that Director`s Cut now (which I will buy, since I`ve known it was coming out since the cinema release, so I can`t complain about being ripped off).

On a negative note, I hate what 20th Century Fox have done to their DVDs. They have a "Rental DVD" warning at the beginning and you can`t skip past it. Then you get trailers which play as if it were a video. Luckily, you can skip these. But I noticed this on 28 Days Later, but I thought that may have been a one off. They`re trying to ruin DVD`s I tell ya. F*ckers, the lot of them.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, no matter how wrong it is ;-)
