After seeing the Animatrix a couple of dozen times :D I`m on a bit of an Anime Kick at the minute so come on, recommend me some quality films. I currently have these on order at the minute.
Spirited Away
Princess Mononoke
Ghost in the Shell
So are there any other great Anime films that i should know about?

RE: Recommend me some Anime please
Blood The last vampire (short but very good)
Akira (very good acclaimed stuff)
Laputa Castle in the sky
To tell you the truth, I mostly only watch miyazaki stuff, which is great but some of his earlier ones (kiki, totoro etc. ) are a bit for younger audiences really.

Yeh, `Laputa` and `Ghost in the shell` are the best ones, worth having.
Laputa for the wonderfull backgrounds and Ghost for the story.

havent seen ninja scroll but it does look fantastic, looking at the reviews, it is worth checking out. Also looking good is vampire hunter d: bloodlust, which is next on my list.

Ah ha,Glad we`ve got an anime/Miyazaki thread going here.I`m going through a box set with his films on and finding it a bit hard going.I desparately want to like them but I haven`t seen one I`d consider to be a personal belter yet.
Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa are full of about 1000 characters with totally unmemorable names.......mega confusing for someone of my limited intelligence.
My Neighbor Totoro ambles along with nothing much happening......and then ends.
Spirited Away,Kiki`s Delivery Service and Grave of the Fireflies I`m half way through (I find them very hard to watch at one sitting).....with all 3 drifting along......
Maybe the one with the Pigs or the one with the Raccoons will be better!!!!!
I`ve also just purchased the full set of Cowboy Beebop so crossed fingers for that one.
I really want to get `into` manga/anime but have yet to find a stonker......I`m not a great sci-fi fan.....so maybe that`s the problem.

Iv`e got both Vampire Hunters films on way from somwhere, i just can remeber where :/ . Rik, if you happen to read this mate, where did i tell you i had VH on order from? I`m registered with nearly every online retailer and i`m going to have to check my order status on them all tomorrow :( .
Ive bought the Vampire Hunters but not for my Anime thing, ive also got this thing for Vamp and Warewolve films aswell.
Is Laputa really that good? I was reading about it over at IMDB and nearly everyone says how great it is but the plot doesnt seem to grab me. Only one thing for it though and that is to see for myself.

Ninja Scrolls is very good. It`s quite violent too, so if you get it buy it on import because the last UK version I watched was trimmed.

Laputa is really about taste really. It could be described as sci-fi but I would say its a childrens adventure film that can be enjoyed by all. That said, I loved it as a child but when I saw it recently, it was great but not absolutely brilliant as I had remembered it to be. The animation is brilliant and the characters are well developed.
Incidently, the US edition has been renamed Castle in the sky as Laputa is a dirty word in spanish or something
