Terminator 2 and Terminator - region 1 or 2
There is a version of Terminator coming out on Region 2 soon, i.e. 19th March, this seems a good package and no real sign of a Region 1 version, so I assume this is a good choice?
Terminator 2 Ultimate DVD edition:
The region 1 seems a lot better, i.e. at least 3 versions of the film and original 2.35:1 ration, the up and coming Region 2 version appears to only have 1 version and in 1.85:1 ratio. Which version should I go for ?
I have a Wharfedale 750 (latest version) that has so far played region 1 discs ok.
Thanks
Andrew

T1 - go for th R2 i reckon as theres no sign of the R1 one yet.
T2- i heard that the two were identical. check out www.rewind.org.uk for a comparison of the two. icidentally they are very good at comparing most films between regions. i reckon youd maybe best off going for the R1 now as thr R2 one isnt out til the end of april and itll retail in high street stores for 25 quid. whereas you can get the R1 one on a limited single disc now from www.play247.com for only £17.99.
RE: Terminator 2 and Terminator - region 1 or 2
www.play247.com are advertising the Region 2 Terminator 2 Ultimate Edition at the same price of £17.99. So I may wait for Region 2 if the content is the same... My philosophy is that I can wait, the content is the same, the price is the same and Region 2 discs are more compatible all round.. thought he DVD18 single disc is tempting.....
RE: Terminator 2 and Terminator - region 1 or 2
T2 was not coming out until October the last I heard of it, so I bought the R1.
RE: Terminator 2 and Terminator - region 1 or 2
To Andrew Bunn.
If you can play the R1 get that one. R2 is not out until October and there are rumours flying around that the extra scenes won`t be branched into the movie, unlike the R1, they will supposedly just be in a deleted scenes section.
RE: Terminator 2 and Terminator - region 1 or 2
Thanks all - so how definite is this October date then ? Most of the suppliers are still quoting April....
Anybody know of any probelms with T2 Ultimate on the Wharfedale 750 - I think the hidden film is akward to get to but basically works ??
Thanks again - Andrew
RE: Terminator 2 and Terminator - region 1 or 2
My T2 Ultimate DVD works fine on my good old Warfedale 750.
The "Ultimate Edition" is a pain in the arse to get to work, so I just play the normal edition and then select Title 3 to be played which is the one you`d get with the number code.
Pretty certain R2 isn`t out until October.
Hope this helps
RE: Terminator 2 and Terminator - region 1 or 2
HI ANDREW. THE R1 VERSION OF T2 IS FANTASTIC SO I WOULD GET THAT DUE TO THE LONG WAIT FOR THE R2 VERSION.
I TO DO INTEND TO PURCHASE THE R2 T1 BUT I HAVE A CONCERN THAT THE RATING OF THE FILM HAS BEEN DROPPED FROM AN 18
TO A 15 RATING. I HOPE THAT THIS IS DUE TO A RE-EVALUATION BY THE BBFC AND NOT DUE TO THE FILM BEING CUT.IT WOULD BE A SHAME IF IT HAS BEEN CUT TO GET A LOWER RATING .

RE: Terminator 2 and Terminator - region 1 or 2
The R1 release of Terminator won`t be until September 2001 (don`t know exact date) as someone else owns the rights to Terminator at present. This deal runs out September time, so the new SE edition can`t be released til the present deal expires.
Terminator SE is also coming out in R4 on 7.3.01, a couple of weeks earlier than R2. It`s supposed to have the same features plus it`s PAL. I`ve got mine on order from www.ezydvd.com.au/ as they are about £2 cheaper than amazon.co.uk, and that includes delivery.
As for Terminator 2 SE I would go for the R1 release as the R2 release doesn`t have the 3 versions (don`t quote me on that, but that is what I have heard). I think all the deleted scenes are included but not available in a `seamless branching` version of the film. I`ve got the R1 release and it works fine on my Wharfedale
Hope this helps.
