The Bourne Supremacy - Verdicts?

JohnnyTV (Elite) posted this on Friday, 13th August 2004, 22:14

Just got back from seeing this and really liked it, lots of great action and a really engaging storyline. I think I liked this more because I hadn`t seen one trailer or advert and hadnt heard anything about it either, which was great because I didn`t know what was coming next. Quite a bit darker than the first one, which I think is better, but only a little, the action was better this time. What did everyone else think?

thought he camera work was shoddy, gave me a headache when i left the cinema all that hand held camera type filming, teh action was good but cause of the camera work didnt get to see it clearly, RONIN is a prime example of good camera work based on similar type of action and that included a car chase too a better one that that in the Bourne film.
Also for me it didnt have enuff Spy type stuff as it it did in the first movie, u know how those spys would use special skills and knowledge not too manygadgets either

Just watched this and agree about the camera work. Was too shaky. Story was slightly confusing too - maybe that was just me though :/
Enjoyable, lots of action but not as good as the first..

Glad to see there are no spoilers, cause I was banned from going to see this on my day off by the bird. Will see it on Wednesday (Orange Wednesday that is), and if it`s half as good as the first it`ll be a lot better than I, Robot...

Yeah the camera work was the only thing which disappointed me really, but I didn`t think it was too bad, helped with the fast pace of the film I think. And yes, I enjoyed this a hell of a lot more than I Robot.

This is only the 2nd summer movie I`ve really liked (after Spidey2) roll on Dodgeball previews next weekend!

Thought it was on a par with the first. that said, It`s not something I`d put on unless the wife wanted to watch it.

I thought it was brilliant :D

Yes, the camera work was a little disorientating at first, with handheld action during scenes where it really wasn`t needed. But it kept with the look and feel of Doug Liman`s original, and with this being Paul Greengrass` first Hollywood picture... I was mightily impressed. But the "shaky cam" worked really well in the action scenes. And the car chase was great, almost became a destruction derby :D

I love these `Bourne` movies, because they don`t get caught up in all the fantasy spy/gadget crap of the Bond films (and various other imitations). They don`t even attempt to look like Hollywood films. They`re far more grounded in reality and that`s a huge benefit because it makes them unpredictable, and while watching them you can literally feel a sense of danger. Of course, if you`ve read the books then the impact of watching the story unfold will be lost, but I haven`t read them.

Anyway, I also really enjoyed I, Robot, but Supremacy is better. So far, Spider-Man 2 is my favourite film of the summer, but Bourne Supremacy is not too far behind.

I remember reading in a test screening review that someone was sick during the car chase, because of motion sickness. I can see why, because my eyes were really tired after watching this... I don`t suppose you`ll get that effect watching it at home on DVD.

How was the car chase at the end? By all accounts it is suppose to be one of cinemas top five. But that was said about the first films car chase and that chase was decidedly second rate.

Top 5? Of all time? :/

I wouldn`t make such a sweeping statement as that, but it hands down beats the originals mini cooper chase. It`s quite vicious, and you`ll know what I mean by that when you see it ;)

The best car chase of 00`s has to be from Bad Boys 2.
I`m not to fussed about BS, I`ll wait till it comes on Sky+.
