Call me Mr Thicko but can anyone tell me what a vanilla version of a DVD is at all? (and I`m sure there`s loads of you that can tell me!).

I`ve tried searching the net but no joy..as yet..

Since this is a suitable thread (didn`t want to start one off for this) does anyone know the first DVD or series of DVDs to add special features, and the first proper Special Edition/Collector`s Edition with a glut of them. How about the first 2 disc?
