The current Cary Grant set from Universal is being reissued in January as single discs, but if you want one of his best films in the set - [disctitle]Bringing Up Baby [/disctitle]- I`d wait for 1st March when the remastered R1 version comes out with a second disc of extras. A similar release of [disctitle]The Philadelphia Story [/disctitle]with Grant, Katharine Hepburn and James Stewart comes out the same day.

However, the R2 Cary Grant set (with BUB, [disctitle]Indiscreet[/disctitle], [disctitle]My Favourite Wife [/disctitle]and [disctitle]Operation Petticoat[/disctitle]) is extremely good value for money even if you do double dip at a later date on BUB.

[disctitle]Arsenic and Old Lace [/disctitle]is brilliant, and dirt cheap as well. Easily the creepiest comedy ever made thanks to the preformance of Raymond Massey. A Brilliant Christmas movie is [disctitle]The Bishop`s Wife [/disctitle]with David Niven - a real unsung seasonal gem that`ll leave you with a real warm, fuzzy feeling. If you want old Archie in something more dramatic, you can`t beat the restored version of [disctitle]North By Northwest[/disctitle].

If you want [disctitle]His Girl Friday [/disctitle](with Rosalind Russell), you`ll want the Columbia version.

All of the above are available in R2. If you`re after R1 as well, then [disctitle]Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House[/disctitle] with Myrna Loy is exclusively and R1 title as is The Philadelphia Story (but see above).

If you fancy [disctitle]Charade[/disctitle] with Audrey Hepburn, the best version is the one included as an extra on the R1 disc of [disctitle]The Truth About Charlie [/disctitle](Mark Wahlberg remake) as it`s the only anamorphic widescreen edition.

I believe the Bishops Wife remains unreleased on R2.
The US disc(at least the first issue) has a very mild, but effective Dolby Surround remix(aswell as the mono). It lifts the soundtrack perfectly. The film has been digitally remastered in a fashion that needs to be copied by those who supposedly remastered Star trek Original series. The print is pristine. The version I glimpsed on C4 last year was awful.
The unusual trailer for the film(no actual footage from the movie)is a gem,and the additional foreign soundtracks often have completely different music cues in them

Good to see it out on R2,even has the foreign soundtracks.
Although I doubt the Chace Surround mix is on there.I wonder if the print is as good as the US disc.
