RE: The Paull & phelings dvd recorder argument thread----------READY,,,,,STEADY,,,,,GO-------

As Paull wants to continually write incorrect info then moan when he gets corrected I thought I would move this thread back to the top of the list again to see if he has the balls to argue his corner.
He has the cheek to say I post incorrect info when he has posted 3 incorrect posts in the last 7 days.
He comes out with such crap as "if a player does not play -R then its faulty".What surprises me most is that other writers dont point out what s***e he writes before I do.
All he can say is how great his E55 is because ,apart from a mico, the E55 is the only dvd recorder he has ever used.He posts absolute rubbish about -RW when he does not even know its functionality,he has never used a HDD machine.....ever.
This is the guy who said Panasonic is the mutts nuts and they would never want to use -RW as RAM is so hi-tec,then when the news came out of the panasonic addition of -RW and +R he kept quiet for ages, probably expecting everyone to forget what complete bollocks he writes....about everything

RE: DVD recorder...Sony or Panasonic?

Clayts,I apologise for continually adding to the thread but I won`t let Paull just sit there and spout crap.
Now he accuses me of posting incorrect info-maybe he can give me one example. He has posted 3 incorrect postings in the last week.
Perhaps some of the other writers may care to remind us of the crap that Paull continually comes out with.Remember not so long ago in a thread where someone was not interested in RAM he kept butting in about how the E55 was brilliant and would do everything, even cook and clean your house twice a week.
For the original question, the ES10 is the obvious choice as it offers much more than the Sony. That`s the ES10,forget the E55

RE: DVD recorder...Sony or Panasonic?

Clayts,if you read back in this thread you will see that Paull gave incorrect info again(any player that does not play -R is faulty)and I corrected it.Or would you prefer incorrect info left alone and filling threads with the wrong information.
I don`t purposely set out to pick fault with Paull, but I don`t like to see incorrect info given as being fact.

RE: DVD recorder...Sony or Panasonic?

You would not take it back as FAULTY(maybe you would).
But that reply just about sums Paull up.
If you want the best in your house why do you have an E55 and a Mico?
Don`t bother to answer that one, just my obvious response!!!
Nuff said!!

RE: DVD recorder...Sony or Panasonic?

Sorry Paull, but there are many dvd players that will not play -R discs, just as there are those that won`t play DVD+.
If you take any player back as faulty just because it won`t play -R you will rightfully be laughed out of the shop.
The DVD player standard was set long before the recordable standards were decided.RAM is also an official standard, but you would not take a player back because it won`t play RAM

RE: URGENT REQUEST Panasonic DMRE65EBS OWNERS The manual says -R discs record ONLY in 4:3 aspect

Normally if you have this problem on a non HDD machine I would say record to -RW ,copy to PC HDD then add the WSS via IFO edit before burning back to -R.
However, recording to DVD RAM may be different if for no other reason than your PC may not play RAM

RE: DVD recorder...Sony or Panasonic?

Paull, you`re at it again.I really don`t want to be seen as picking on you but I must correct your mistakes ...again.
The Sony 500 is the one with Freeview.
Sony are usually overpriced so if its comparable with an E55 then thats a first.
I agree with Paull that having + aswell as - is no advantage. Its a marketing ploy .Any dvd player could have a preference for one or the other so if you are playing discs on many other players you might get some benefit, however to say that if a player does not play -R or -RW its faulty is complete crap. Some players will play + or - and some may play both or neither.
But if I had to choose I would say unless you need a reusable disc to play elsewhere go for the E55,but if its not well below the £190 asked for the new ES10 which adds -RW and +R then go for that

RE: DVD Import and customs

I have ordered multiple items and they send them all separately. You should have no extra charges, although I have a rather large and expensive package on the way and it will be interesting to see what happens with this one

RE: DVD`s in NTSC won`t play as smooth as in PAL because of the difference in FPS

After 3:2 pulldown NTSC runs the same as film, that is 24FPS.
The juddering is because your dvd player is outputting the NTSC as ,most likely PAL 50,but possibly PAL 60.
Go into the setup menu on your player and change the video output to AUTO.This should allow it to output NTSC in pure form.If you have picture problems on that setting then your tv won`t accept pure NTSC and you will have to tolerate the juddering

RE: The alias Season 3 R2 DVDS on Ebay - dodgy or no?

I gor Alias season 1 and 2 for £17.99 each last year, and the season 3 set is only £29.99 from Movietyme-no customs

RE: Pioneer DVR420H or JVC DRMH20 which one need help by Wednesday??

As the JVC has no RGB input the only choice can be the 420

RE: Mike & over-riding dvd copy protection

All dvd recorders have Macrovision copy protection built in to prevent you copying commercial dvd`s to the recorder, but your own recordings will not have any copy protection on them

RE: over-riding dvd copy protection

If the home recordings are +R then use DVD Decrypter in ISO read and write mode. You may find that the copy to HDD fails at 99%,but as long as you don`t delete the file it will copy ok.
If its DVD-R,I am not sure what the problem could be,other than the recordings are corrupted in some way or are unfinalised

RE: SKY+ problem

New Installation or Planner Rebuilds will not delete anything from the HDD.However,a planner rebuild is not always guaranteed to return all your lost space. If it doesn`t,instead of selecting Planner Rebuild, select Full System Reset.Note that this WILL delete all recordings and planner entries. It will give you 100% space though, just copy your recordings to VHS or DVD before you do it

RE: ADVICE needed on replacment as Philips wont repair my DVDR70 recorder, and stop laughing Pheling

Again-what is your point?
The ES10 adds what the E55 was lacking, namely a compatible rewritable.Obviously an important enough omission for Panny to add it at last.
I know you are just another in a very long line of people trying desperately to defend their purchase. But you have no need to defend it.The E55 is a quality machine, but the lack of -RW was a sore point for many, hence Panny adding it.
If harping on about Panny needing to add -RW to their machines many many months before they actually do makes me a knowall, then so be it.

RE: The alias Season 3 R2 DVDS on Ebay - dodgy or no?

With Alias proving to be a complete flop in the UK(god knows why)the likelihood of any more UK Alias dvd`s is getting slimmer.
You can download programs for about £16 that will enable your computer to play any region discs

RE: ADVICE needed on replacment as Philips wont repair my DVDR70 recorder, and stop laughing Pheling

So the E55 won machine of the year, but last year. And your point is?
The ES10 adds what the E55 was lacking

RE: ADVICE needed on replacment as Philips wont repair my DVDR70 recorder, and stop laughing Pheling

I have to say I stopped reading the usual Paull "Panny is great" crap after the first paragraph.
Indeed Paull, your word IS good enough, however,as I have shown many times your info is usually wrong.I don`t say you are lying, you are just wrong. And how can you say the E55 is the best dvd recorder to get.Compared to many on here you are years behind on dvdr. You have never even touched a HDD model, you have never used a -RW set top.E55 and a Mico-thats it.Sure the E55 is the better of those two,but you really should not be dishing up opinions based on your VERY limited experience of dvd recorders.Once you have used a few more you may be more qualified to do so.
Your pathetic stance on what is accurate is summed up neatly in this above post.
You know more than me about -RW because you have thrown away loads. However, the fact that I have owned 3 -RW dvd recorders, and a -RW PC dvd drive aswell does not matter.
I know you have never admitted your -RW knowledge is lacking, but your ridiculously misinformed posts about the format demonstrate it very nicely.
Your Panny rhetoric is becoming laughable.
Please point me to one place where I have "bent the truth".I am not quibbling about whether Panny is number one in the world.I always said they needed -RW.Panny themselves have agreed with me ,so you look an even bigger idiot than usual, and your opinion has been shown to be worth nothing.
My current quibble with you is that ,despite being corrected on previous occasions about your totally incorrect info, you still waffle on about the same stuff that seems to be an exclusive feature of "PAULL`S WORLD".
You have always said that -RW is crap;you have always said Panny don`t need it as its a backward step. What excuse do you have for them adopting it,and when you give birth to your next Panny child ,how will you justify taking a "backward step"?
One final point. You say I don`t post links. But both of your recent inaccuracies about -RW can be correctly read about on the Pioneer website that I mentioned in the earlier post.Is that not clear enough

RE: The Paull & phelings dvd recorder argument thread----------READY,,,,,STEADY,,,,,GO-------

Paull ,thanks for that.
Yet another well thought out and reasoned argument. But better than most of your posts anyway. However, just as inaccurate.

RE: The alias Season 3 R2 DVDS on Ebay - dodgy or no?

The picture appears to be the R1 season 3 set. There is no R2 set.It could be the Australian R4 set. Many R4 releases are coded for R2 aswell.
Safest bet is to get a R1 set brand new from Movietyme.Only £29.99,no customs charges,no worries

RE: ADVICE needed on replacment as Philips wont repair my DVDR70 recorder, and stop laughing Pheling

Anyone on here for a while will have seen your fanatical recommendations for the E55,even when people make it clear that RAM is not for them.
You keep answering queries Paull, and I`ll continue to correct your inaccuracies, just like I had to on this very thread.
I`m sure the mods will stop the lies, but there aren`t any.As seen on THIS thread, all I ever do is correct misinformation posted by you.
Whether you were accurate with Pioneer CS is completely unknown. We only have your word for it.
Why not simply answer my main query? Why do you slag off -RW,then admit that on at least 2 occasions you admitted that your knowledge of -RW was lacking.

RE: Sky Viewing Card Query

Don`t sell the box or card. The instant Sky realise that either is not operating fromyour address, you will be charged 2x whatever your subscription is.Multiroom cons are one thing Sky check up on without fail

RE: DVD+R created using Phillips DVDR 70 wont work on a Pioneer DV-565A

Maybe try another brand of blank.DVD+R`s created on an early Philips recorder play fine on my Pioneer 656

RE: The Paull & phelings dvd recorder argument thread----------READY,,,,,STEADY,,,,,GO-------

I agree with what you say.But as I have already recommended the new Panny to many people noone can say I am anti Panny anymore as they have listened to their problems and corrected them-unlike Paull .
My gripe with Paull is not(and has not been for a while)-RW v RAM,it is about his waffling on with comparisons of formats in which he has no idea.
As his recent posts and threads have shown,he has rundown -RW while at the same time admitting that he has no idea what -RW can do,
Is that not just plain stupid?Especially when you have been reminded a number of times that -RW(in its 2 guises) can do all that RAM can.
I was hoping that once the ES10 arrived it would end the RAM v -RW argument by making it largely null and void, but Paull prolongs the argument by spouting inaccuracies constantly.
Love this thread title though

RE: ADVICE needed on replacment as Philips wont repair my DVDR70 recorder, and stop laughing Pheling

Tell me one lie I have said about you.Any regular poster on here will know that you have promoted the E55 as the cure for most things short of the common cold.
As all on here can see with your recent incorrect post regarding flexible recording, your posts are usually guesswork.
The earlier thread where you rambled on about -RW showed you up as a bit of a wally when it emerged that you did not know what -RW could do,while at the same time saying how it was worse than RAM.
Your so called FACTS even involved the Pioneer customer service people who were then blamed fot misinformation which was really your misinterpretation of their info.
So we are all waiting for you to tell us ONE SINGLE LIE that I have said about you.
As I said I don`t need to give links to sites where my info is proven. Most of it is given in instruction manuals that you can download off manufacturer sites, but that seems too difficult for you.All you need to do is look in the Pioneer manuals to see the explanation of what -RW(VR) can do,or that Pioneer offer flexible(manual) recording aswell.2 things you were wrong about,2 things easily gleaned from Pioneer manuals easily downloaded from their site.
But I`m sure everyone realises that you usually give misinformationabout equipment you have never used but try to compare with Panny anyway

RE: ADVICE needed on replacment as Philips wont repair my DVDR70 recorder, and stop laughing Pheling

Mr Gibbs. The ES10 is still the best idea even if you don`t want to use RAM.It records to +R for your blanks,it records to -RW if you want rewritable compatibility, and you can get a handful of RAM discs for reuse on the recorder itself. It should do all you want it to.-RW ensures you can do without RAM(and any editing) if you really want to

RE: ADVICE needed on replacment as Philips wont repair my DVDR70 recorder, and stop laughing Pheling

Paull,I`m sorry if you feel that correcting your inaccuracies is arrogance. But if you do,then tough. You constantly spout bollocks on this forum about how great Panasonic E55`s are and you have already been proven to not know what you are talking about, and your recent post about Flexible Record keeps up your trend of incorrect info.
If you were not so out and out hyper about the E55 I would probably be more courteous to you,but frankly, the guff you have given me over time means you don`t deserve courtesy.
I have no intention of hunting around for links to prove you wrong.I know I am right, and anyone on this forum who has Pioneer or other makes also knows I am right. If people expected a link to prove that info given was correct everytime then most would not bother to post.
If you don`t believe thats your problem, but I think any serious buyers who trawl various sites will see that ,unlike you,99% of the time,I do know what I am talking about, having actually used all the equipment in question

RE: Panasonic DMR-ES10 & SKY+

Copy protection that affects SBO will prevent dvd recording aswell as VHS.You need to visit the Sonel website for a special scart lead to remove the Macrovision.

RE: Help!!! Problem with Pioneer 575

The Pioneer asks what type of sound system you have in your setup. If you tell it you have a full 5.1 set up,when you play 5.1 through a tv,all the centre sound is lost,so you won`t get dialogue. If you tell it you have a normal 2 speaker system it will play back through a tv fine.
Check the initial setup section and recheck the settings for your audio output.
But if you tell it you have a 5.1 setup, any 5.1 material needs to be listened via amp and speakers and not tv

RE: ADVICE needed on replacment as Philips wont repair my DVDR70 recorder, and stop laughing Pheling

The recorded +R discs should playback on any recorder you buy.Forget the blanks.
If you want to get Panasonic forget the E65 and get the ES10 which will give you -RW and +R recording on top of the usual Panny offerings so you can even use those blanks.
If Richer Sounds offer your money back get an ES10 from elsewhere if they don`t stock it.Personally,I`d invest a further £70 and gewt the HDD/DVDR combo that Richer Sounds offer for £299.The Pioneer 420(also heard it was as low as £269)or the E85 Panny was also said to be that cheap.
Foget crap like Liteon or Cambridge, you have enough cash to move into the quality makes.
If you really don`t think £70 extra is worth the HDD,then it has to be the ES10.
Paull is wrong as usual. The "Flexible Record" system offered on Panny machines is also offered on Pioneer aswell as other makes,so don`t worry about that
