Wes Craven`s `Cursed` - anyone seen it?
There`s a little bit of backstory to the making of this film. It`s written by Kevin Williamson and Directed by Wes Craven, and has almost literally been filmed twice after originally being rejected by the studio.
Anyway, watched it last night after being incredibly intrigued by it and found it to be okay, but a little on the bizarre side. It has some awful CGI, and the werewolves can barely be taken seriously (especially when one stops to give everyone the finger), but at the same time Craven seems to be trying to play the film straight.
I`ve certainly seen worse, but with a relatively ok cast and decent production team behind it (through Craven has made some huge stinkers over the years) you would expect better. I wonder though how much of the original film exists with the new stuff, because the pacing and the structure is a little off at times.
Anyway - has anyone else seen it? :D

RE: Wes Craven`s `Cursed` - anyone seen it?
I seen this a few weeks ago and couldnt decide if it was meant to be a serious film or a darkish comedy. It was ok but like you said a little daft every now and then.
SPOILER:
The whole dog turning into a werewolf had me in stiches. You know that bit just before the dog nicks the steak, Is the lad wondering wether to eat the stake raw, cook it or eat the dog?
Regards
Bryan

Yeah watched it last night really enjoyed it, i think it`s meant to be a little bit of a p*** take? Even if it wasn`t it came across that way, but enjoyed it for what it was a good little film from Wes :D

I thought it was rubbish - like you said, they didn`t know whether they were making a horror or a comedy. The fact that the characters were so thick that they had no idea that they might be a werewolf was just annoying and I guessed the identity of the main werewolf after about 30 minutes. Kevin Williamson is capable of far better scripts and Wes Craven is a better director than Cursed would suggest; something or someone was cursed as the film sucked.
Edit - About the awful CGI - the werewolves were not scary as they looked more like giant teddybears than huge bloodthirsty canines!

its just a horror and comedy
RE: Wes Craven`s `Cursed` - anyone seen it?
Saw it the other day. Annie said the werewolves were almost believable until you saw the close-up in the car park.
And the CGI and acting of the chewed-up shannon elizabeth was atrocious

CGI wolves have never worked ever since American Werewolf in Paris. The best wolf transformation still has to be An American Werewolf in London and that was made with no CGI, just pure talent thanks to Rick Baker.

Absolutely, and he deservedly earned an Oscar for his work.
With the advent of CGI, I really don`t think anyone`s TRYING anymore. With the exception of Dog Soldiers, it`s all done with compootahs, and that instantly erases any sense of realism.
