im also a big fan and am desparate for the boxset. the R1 det is by the far the best with all the films plus a bonus disc in a nicer box. however the R2 set is half the price although with the last two films missing and ive already got a new nightmare (a tenner from hmv) and i can get the R1 freddys dead for a tenner too. if the total difference was a fiver i may have been tempted with the R1 version, but as the difference is around £20+ dont think its worth it!

R1 is 8 discs (7 movies + a disc of extras)
R2 is only the first 5 movies.
One of the other Nightmare films has been released in the UK but is a very poor quality disc (4:3 Pan &Scam bad picture quality and only stereo with no extras)

at first i didnt think it would be worth buying the R1 set, so i went ahead and purchased the R2 one..... now i really wished i spent more on the R1 set!!
the R2 set is too basic, only trailers, scene selection and two crappy music videos.... oh and 5 discs....
the R1 set has 8 discs which include Nightmare on Elm Street 3D, the Nightmare on Elm Street Game + Encyclopedia, tons of extras and a nicer box. if you`re a big fan then i think is definetly worth the extra cost, which is about £30......

This is a no-brainer - the Region 1 version is by far the better of the two. You get all 7 seven movies, beautiful anamorphic transfers, remastered 5.1 soundtracks, audio commentaries (on a couple of the films), plus an extra bonus disc which offers EVERYTHING you could ever want to know about the series as well as 2 pairs of dodgy 3-D specs for the Freddy`s Dead ending (though they don`t seem to work).
Forget about the Region 2 version, spend that little bit extra and get the proper box-set - you`ll be glad you did.
