New `Back to the Future` 4 disc set?

movie freak (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Saturday, 23rd July 2005, 02:47

I was just scanning www.play.com, when I noticed that a new BTTF box set (region 2) is slated for a release in October. This time, is is claimed to be a 4 disc box set,as opposed to the previous 3 disc set. Does anyone have any info on this? Anything regarding extras?

Have done abit of searching and it seems that the first 3 discs will be the discs from the current Boxset but the 4th disc will include all the extra features which were on the R1 release.

Check out the link below for more info and cover art...

Anybody know if the Region 1 version is DTS like thr region 2 version?

Won`t bother with the special edition if this is the case.

Thanks in advance

No it doesn`t have DTS, not that it would make much of a difference. It does have more extras. This new Collector`s Set hasn`t been officially announced yet, but I saw the artwork for it floating around a couple of weeks ago. More info here:

*Edit* Doh! Didn`t see the link above ;)

Doesn`t actually look too different from my Region 1 Canadian version that I bought from DVDSoon.com a little while back.

In all honesty I prefer the original Region 2 artwork on the 3 disc release.

Yes it`s very pretty, but I got the R4/2 version from Oz YEARS ago. It`s 5.1 (all I need) 1:85 anamorphic (fits my widescreen nicely) And there`s some cute feaurettes. I really don`t need another version of the films. If they were extended editions with unreleased footage then maybe...

Thought I would just point out that this 4 Disc release isnt being released in the US, only outside the US in countries which didnt get all the extra features the first time.

Personally I am going to sell on my current release on eBay and order the new one, plenty of people out there will pay £15/20 for the current release and the new set wont be much more than that, did the same with Jaws, got £15 for my 25th Anniversary Edition on eBay and then bought the new release for £10

I just hope they use the correctly framed masters for this set as the last thing we need is another badly framed release.
