I was wondering if anyone knew whether the versions of The Last House on the Left and I Spit on your Grave which feature in this new box set are the already available censored versions? Info on the anchor bay website doesn`t make it clear.
"Last House on the Left" is cut. See below:
To obtain this category cuts of 0m 31s were required. The cuts were Compulsory.
Cuts required to humiliation of woman forced to urinate, violent stabbing assault on woman and removal of her entrails, and woman`s chest carved with a knife. Cuts required under the Video Recordings Act 1984 and BBFC Classification Guidelines.
"I Spit On Your Grave" is also cut. See below:
To obtain this category cuts of 7m 2s were required., some or all of these cuts were substitutions. The cuts were Compulsory.
Compulsory cuts were required to remove several sequences of sexual violence and humiliating depictions of female nudity in line with published Sexual Violence Guidelines.
And upon resubmission to the BBFC in 2003:
To obtain this category cuts of 0m 41s were required. The cuts were Compulsory.
Cut was required to remove images of a woman being raped over a rock, in accordance with the BBFC`s Sexual Violence Policy. - in addition to the above cuts.

Ah - they cut out all the fun stuff....! :D
"I like you. When the world is mine, your death will be quick and painless..."
Aside from the documentary which will be interesting, this box set is a waste of time as most of the films are cut.
ISOYG,LHOTL,ZFE,NIADB are all cut
Cheers for clearing that up folks, I`ll have to choose something else for the mother-in-law`s Christmas present then?! ;)
I think there was a rumour a while back that the cut scenes were part of the DVD extras but it is not true. The BBFC also rate DVD extras, the entire content of the DVD, and not just the feature presentation.
I have seen "Last House on the Left" and even with cuts I found it to be quite shocking, but then again it isn`t my cup of tea :)
I don`t know for sure, but my guess would be that Anchor Bay put out the censored versions. The price for the set is very reasonable however, and would be a good buy.
The BBFC certificate only moving images.
Because of this Anchor Bay were able to include all the cut stuff from LHOTL as a series of stills which provide the missing footage when played one after the other. No soundtrack though.
AB also included a weblink to a site where you can see the cut stuff.
Of course the R1 MGM disc is uncut anyway.
And really, this Box of the Banned is an absolute waste of money as the footage that gave the films their notoriety is all cut out.Pointless
It seems that this box set is to be the UK`s first ever dvd release for the uncut version of Zombie Flesh Eaters.
Only 25 years too late, but its a step in the right direction.Unfortunately,Anchor bay are releasing this uncut version as an exclusive to this box set, though no doubt a standalone disc will arrive in due course.
I Spit On Your Grave,Damaged Brain and Last House are all still cut, making this box set still pretty much a waste unless you want to see the 2 documentaries, which do sound interesting

Yes, and 2 weeks later they`ll release the limited edition "Eyeball Edition" which will consist of the same disc in special packaging, then a couple of months later will come the "Island edition" - Exactly the same as the single-disc edition but with an insert in the case to win a holiday on......an island!, then they`ll re-release the Eyeball Edition, slightly irritating everyone who bought the "limited edition" Eyeball Edition first-time round, they`ll then leave it a few months until they find a grainy crumpled black and white still from a deleted scene in Lucio Fulci`s bin and edit it back into the film with no remastering whatsoever and call it a `Director`s Cut` which will lead on nicely to the re-re-release of the Eyeball Edition and then..................well, you get the point.
Be aware that the transfer AB used for their R1 release of the film was REALLY bad!
Luckily Zombie Flesh Eaters (Or Zombi 2 to give it it`s original title) is available as an uncut 2-disc set from Shriek Show on R1 with a beautifully remastered print and I would heartily recommend it to any fans of the film. 8)
