Page 1 of Film4`s Korean Season
DVDs & Films Forum
Film4 are starting their Korean season tonight, with the film Sympathy For Lady Vengeance.
The other films lined up in the season are as follows:
OldBoy
A Tale Of Two Sisters
R-Point
Tell Me Something
The Brotherhood of War
I take it Brotherhood of War is Taegukgi? I want to see A Tale of Two Sisters and R-Point, so I`ll check those out. Lady V has just started, but I`ve got three copies on DVD already so I think I`ll pass.
I completely forgot about `Lady Vengeance` but will definitley watch `R-point`.
Chris - I`ve just realised your sig is from `V for Vendetta`!

Worth a try! If you get bored of any of them, let me know!
(is it really that good to own 3 versions? Its in my amazon rental queue...i might have to kick it up a notch).

Would that be with or without a spice weasel?

Well I bought the HK release when it came out, only to discover that it was fairly bad in terms of quality (interlaced transfer and the first batch had an authoring error that stopped playback after a certain point). I then got the Korean version, which has two different versions of the film, both of which are slightly different from the theatrical release (in terms of colouration). I`m thinking of getting the R1 now as it`s currently the best version of the film with the theatrical palette intact. The new version in the forthcoming Vengeance Boxed Set from Tartan UK might be good, but then again it`s Tartan UK...
Sometimes I get a bit obsessive about certain films for a short period of time, and this was one of those. It is a great film, but most people reckon Oldboy is better. Lady V is certainly the most stylish of Park Chan-wook`s trilogy though.
Cool, cheers chris. I might have a look at the R1. Ive seen the other sympathy, JSA and Oldboy but Lady Vengeance is one of those films that I have been getting round to watching for ages.

If you promise to stop interrupting, alright. Against my will, I`m gonna knock it up another notch.

R-Point was on again a week or so ago, missus and i just got round to watching it.
Enjoyed it, was different, got a bit confused, but then normally do in Eastern horror films!
Only film I could compare it to would be Deathwatch, but it`s not really that much like it!
Worth watching anyway when it`s on Film 4 again.
I think I`ve got all the other films that were part of the season on DVDs to watch still!
We watched Dumplings, (which is Hong Kong, rather than Korean) recently from Film 4 and that was very good as well.
