RE: Whats the best software around for running DVDs on your PC???
I use Cyberlink Powerdvd, no probs at all

I use PowerDVD 4 XP. Picture looks better than v3 and I now use DTS as well :)

Cyberlink PowerDVD v.3 onwards, using DVDGenie to defeat regionalisation.

Software Cinemaster (even the ancient versions) absolutely destroys the comptition for picture quality and it has the least strict system requirements to run. PowerDVD has the worst picture quality by a mile, WinDVD is better and Cinemaster is perfection. Ive seen many versions of all 3 programs and Cinemaster has always been the best. PowerDVD picture is just artefact overload.... blotchovision.

I`d take what BAM says with a pinch of salt - perhaps he had other software or hardware issues. Nearly everyone I know (including me) uses PowerDVD and is very happy with the picture quality.

What speed computer does everyone use?
I was wondering becuase i also use PowerDVD (although im not sure what version) along with DVD genie for the region free bit, and while the picture quality is good it slows down whenever there is alot happening on screen or the camera moves quickly.
Is there a cure for this or is it just my computer is a little slow nowadays?
The comp is a K6 2 450Mhz with 512 RAM, VooDoo 3 3000 Graphics card, Pioneer DVD 116 Player

Demon: I`ve got a very similar set-up to yours, except a K63 running a Voodoo2000 card. The picture quality I get is excellent but I do see dropped frames when there is a lot of action. Personally, I always watch on a dedicated player.

Demon55c - I had to tweak settings on my voodoo5 to obtain a smoother picture - might well be the same for Voodoo 3. Try www.3dspotlight.com/tweaks/
