Superbad

Went to see this last night, and I don`t remember laughing so much at a film. Excellently written and acted, it`s the most fun I`ve had out at the cinema in ages. HIGHLY recommended; easily in my top 5 of the year so far.

Is this year that Seth Rogen saved comedy?

I thought Knocked Up was far funnier, even though Superbad was good, Fogell did steal the show from under the main actors feet.

Not seen this but at over 2 hours, Knocked Up was far too long...

Agreed. Thought Knocked Up could`ve done with having about 30 mins cut out of it. Also thought Superbad was a much better film than Knocked Up (which I did also enjoy).

Tis a difficult one. I think both Superbad and Knocked Up are really funny, with both being surprisingly accurate in some areas of social commentary (although never loses the `gloss` feeling of being a mooviee).

I think Superbad wins though as it`s more focused and the payoff better.

Superbad was funny, but it had the typical Hollywood righteous ending, where the fat kid who`s desperate to have sex, has a sudden change of heart and thinks, maybe it`s not the right thing to do, which I felt was totally out of character, I could understand it from his mate, but it didn`t ring true with Jonah Hill`s character.

I saw this yesterday and spent the whole two hours waiting for something funny to happen. I hated the Seth character and after a while, was thinking "Have I had a humour-bypass and am I the only one not finding this funny?". I was relieved when the two people I went with turned to me during the end credits and said "Words can`t describe how s*** that film was" and "That was just rubbish".

Obviously not your sense of humour then...

It`s got an 87% Fresh Rating on Rottentomatoes.com, so it`s undoubtedly a well liked and highly regarded film (Total Film and Empire both gave it 4 stars too). Sense of humour bypass - sounds very likely to me - I`d get it checked out at the doctors. ;)

Sense of humour had not suffered a bypass as it was in full working order when I watched Monty Python`s Life of Brian last night! I just didn`t find anything funny about a fat, loudmouthed obnoxious misogynistic and homophobic kid shouting. Even the scenes with the cops and McLovin weren`t funny as they were predictable, contrived and tiresome. I can see from Rottentomatoes and Metacritic that it was well received, but I hated it. Clearly not my type of film.
