From IMDB

Quote:
George A. Romero returns to the screen with Diary of the Dead, with a plot and hand-held-camera technique that several critics note are much like Cloverfield.

The difference, says Manohla Dargis in the New York Times, is that Romero`s film is "a lot cheaper-looking, generally smarter-sounding and a whole lot funnier."

Michael Phillips in the Chicago Tribune also observes that while the shaky "syndrome kept Cloverfield on the run, Romero`s film is "more provocatively handled ... and is funny and sad and rather sweet as zombie pictures go."

Clearly critics are deeply divided over this latest Romero film, his fifth. While Peter Howell in the Toronto Star calls it "one of the best of the bunch," Carina Chocano in the Los Angeles Times describes it as Romero`s "least successful vision of the zombie apocalypse."

I wasn`t too impressed with Land of the Dead, but I am very looking forward to seeing this.

Maybe shouldn`t admit to this but we really enjoyed Land of the Dead, and we like the Dawn remake, to a certain extent more than the original, none of that sitting around discussing the futility of it all nonsense :)

Missus and I are looking forward to this.

I wasn`t too keen on Land of The Dad but didn`t think it was anywhere as near as Land of the Dead. ;)

Wasn`t really to keen on Land of the Dead in all honesty but did really like the Dawn of the Dead remake. The Day of the Dead remake that is going straight to dvd, is apparently absolutely awful.

I`ve never really understood the love for Dawn of the Dead as the best of the original trilogy as I actually preferred both Night and Day.

Day of the Dead remake is utter s***e. In fact, it`s not really a remake at all because it`s nothing like the original. The CGI is awful, and Zombies crawling along walls and ceilings look ridiculous. In fact, its not even a zombie movie, because they aren`t undead, they are infected.

Oh, and agree about the non-love of the original Dawn of the Dead. Really enjoyed the remake however.

The original Dawn or the Dead is one af my all time fave films, had the pleasure of meeting George A Romero at collectormania a few months ago and now have a signed Dawn of the Dead poster framed on my front room wall :D. I liked the remake as a film - but for different reasons then the original as it didnt have much in common with the 78 classic, much like the remake of the Italian job had a gold robbery and mini`s in common with its namesake the remake of DotD had zombies and a mall and thats it

I had the er...experience of the Day of the Dead remake yesterday and as others have said its pretty poor, again as a film its ok I suppose, its VERY 28 days later, its very ott and frankly stupid in places (gravity defying infected/zombies and odd Blade/Buffy vampire style flaming into ash zombies for example) bad CGI pretty thin story that has nothing in common with the previous film no mention of a zombie outbreak elsewhere, confined to a small town in a Raccoon city kinda way. It could have been good but it fell way short of the mark
