Do you get charged customs & excise if you buy dvd`s from box office?

You will only get stung if you have a bigger order. Since dvdboxoffice.com is free P&P , just order one at a time and there should not be a problem. You run a risk with box sets tho.

I just wondered because I have seen a DVD on there that`s a few quid cheaper that anywhere else, but if I was gonna have to pay customs & excise etc then it wouldn`t have been worth it.

I think the only risk would be (expensive) boxed sets. Even large orders are sent individually.

you shouldn`t get taxed as dvdboxoffice ship via Europe.

They ship in bulk to France then they are forwarded to the UK, as it`s then coming from an EU country customs are not meant to charge you.

I`ve never had to pay extra. I thought if the cost was less than 18 quid it didn`t qualify for excise duty. Anyone know if this is definately the case ?

thats right - no excise duty on items less than £18 - which is why plays new release dvds usually retail at 17.99.

I fancied getting the complete monty python (14 disks) from them. It costs around £114 so i didn`t want to get stung by customs. Any advice?

I have just bought two disks from them and then reallised the total was going to be over £28. I emailed them asking them to record the package as a gift on the customs declaration so that I would be under the £36 limit.

I received no reply from them, but the disks (finally) arrived on the same day in seperate jiffy bags so were both well under the £18 limit for items anyway.

The only problem with DVDBO was the three weeks between ordering and receiving.
