Page 1 of help with film PLEASE!!!

hi all. MIL asking about old film possible B&W starring possibly a tall blond fella here is possible plot.

husband goes away (possibly to war or business) has accident comes back - lost memory wife takes care - trying to jog memory of who he is - he realises she is wife when he remembers he walks up garden path of cottage they bought - important part of film possibly in title.

confused?? I am!!
have tried google, IMDB etc but no joy. Any help greatly appreciated.
