RE: Am I getting old??
nightmare. My oldest tonight whilst (patiently) listening to my far superior and glorious tunes (!!!) on the docking station started to sing not humm but sing both `Alone` and `Who wants to live forever`. Wow I thought a bit of rock royalty, a bit of genuine talent and class to the world of manufactured cack we see all around ---- no --- one from glee and one from `queen` night (i shudder as i type) from x-factor.
I feel the need to kidnap her i-pod and change ALL the songs on it for the bloody originals!!!
rant over
cheers.
Am I getting old??
:( I reiterate am I getting old when I see that (legendary actor) Tony Curtis has passed on and also (not well known to anyone seemingly under 35) producer Stephen J Cannell has also gone plus Gloria Stuart whom my daughter thought was ACTUALLY on Titanic - seriously!! and all the `young generation say is "eh...were they in Glee!!" or "Oh were they not supposed to be in that NEW film (yes new!!) `Back to the Future with some guy/girl(Google undecided!!) Justin Beiber" Seriously - seriously have we let our next generation down? Do they not know the classics and the actors therein? Back to the Future- seriously come on. Next we`ll have Smiley Virus enticing a musical alien into her house with M&M`s or Susan Boyle welding while harbouring a desperate desire to dance - o.k. maybe not but (hopefully) you get my point,
R.I.P Mr Curtis, Mr Cannell and of course Ms Stuart your talents will always be remembered here by those who appreciate them.
cheers.
RE: Whats your ringtone and message alert?
;) Nice jiggly bum by the way - is that Megan Fox? tats say so. 8) (:¦
Anyway currently the most common calls I get are from;
1) TOH
2) Her Mum
3) Our eldest aged 16
The tones used currently ( I tend to change dependant on mood) are;
1) TOH - `Bad Things` Jace Everett - theme from True Blood.
2) `Monster` - The Automatic - do I need to say more?
3) Money,Money,Money - ABBA - same question?
Don`t really bother with message tones.
cheers

RE: Travelling to US in next 2 years? Read This
We got back on sunday there and we never filled the green form out on the plane but a white one before departure from Manchester - never did that before. We only read about the esta thing the day before we travelled and it took hours to get it sorted - website was down, singular there only is one ( official) that does it free (at least when we applied) big warnings about using those who charge many are scammies seemingly.
Word of warning for any one travelling with a friend of one of your children - make sure you have a written letter of consent from a parent or guardian stating they are aware their child is with you. We did not (even know we had to) and as a result our 15yo daughter`s friend spent nearly 2 hours at immigration in a room with a phone trying to get her mum before she was eventually allowed into the country. not good.
Shamu show is not good now that`s right the lack of water activity makes it a tad dare i say boring but to be fair the show we saw this time (no trainers in water) was the same show we saw last time - 2 years ago (some long haired guy playing guitar for 10 mins - what`s that about!!) and it blew then and that was WITH the trainers in the water. Check out the dolphins instead.
Our flight was cancelled on our return and we got to stay at the big hotel with the balconies in the airport that was good. still sucks to be back though - fanta here is yellow and where is my mountain dew!!
cheers
RE: The Official England World Cup 2010 Thread
Sad indeed. I am sure many in my area do not share the sentiment however as I live north of the border but purely based on talent big loss to the game (assuming this will be him finished) and of course England, though not sure exactly how much of an influence he would have been (allowed to) be this Summer.
He showed the other night against Man U however that despite his ageing years and undoubted loss of pace the skills are still there as is the ability to create half a yard to whip the ball in and most importantly the quality of most of the balls he whipped in were top drawer - better quality finishers would have buried at least 2 of them.
Despite the now ( then as well I guess) infamous `stupid boy` sending off in 1998 total model professional on and ( well nearly) off, marred a bit with the U.S. vs England/Milan panto of recent years and obviously the marriage stuff but still someone many young aspiring players look up to for the right reasons.
Bottom line for me is 2 minutes to go, goal down, free kick 20-25 yards left of centre. Who do you want to see with the ball?
Beckham?
Lampard?
Gerrard?
Any Cole?
No contest.
That read a bit like an obituary!
cheers
RE: The Official Celtic 09/10 thread
touche mate we were cack. Can`t believe we let skippy go. He was our Hateley, Hillhaus or Jess - not great but mark him tight or by god he`ll score. League over now for sure.

RE: Wii Internet Channel now Free!
;) cheers jimbo, i think i shall give it a miss. White wii in question is being `inherited` by oldest daughter at xmas so don`t want to stuff it up now - she ain`t getting my black one!!
thanks
R.I.P. MININOVA
:/ :/ :( Those of us who go there will understand. :(
(sorry if this is posted elsewhere)
RE: Wii Internet Channel now Free!
quick question. Was going to download this last night but when i went into shop channel it told me there was an update and wouldn`t let me proceed until i updated my firmware(is that right?) anyway my question is as my white wii (the one in question) is modded - bannerbomb thing and running in 4.0e i think - if i do this will it all go belly up?
cheers
RE: second hand price for a wii
:) depends on the games i suppose. Assuming with the wheel that mario kart is there. Possibly the right time to sell with the xmas run in. If you have wii fit maybe trade a couple of your games in for wii fit plus to boost your bundle. maybe as you have the gamecube controller also try pick up a couple of classic gamecube games such as starfox, luigi`s mansion and mario kart double dash if you don`t have it on the wii .
But why sell? i LOVE the wii. I have 2!! 1 up stairs (modded) and a black one down - looks the mutts!! Not a `serious` gamer though - if it has an initial title - g.o.w. or c.o.d. then i haven`t played it. Much prefer m.a.r.i.o. k.a.r.t.!!
anyway depends on your games. if they are cack then maybe £150, assuming console is onmodded. If good - mario kart, wii fit + board, olympic games maybe £190-£220. The white one will fetch less now unfortunately.
Don`t think my post will help but hope it does.
cheers
RE: Patrick Swayze has died
My wife didn`t find out at work yesterday so i had the dubious honour of playing the `guess who`s dead` game? when she came in, c`mon we all play it. This time though all I did was take our youngest daughter`s baby doll and put it in the corner of the bedroom, seriously yes, within about 3 seconds she was off!
I had already endured my mother-in-law down the phone `oh its a shame, such a shame`, then my wife and then surprisingly our 14 year old daughter got a tad upset also, massive dirty dancing fan bizarrely and seemingly she watched him in `the parachute film with the surfboards` at her boyfriends last weekend (Youngblood??!)
So well done Patrick you made 3 generations of the same family cry yesterday.
RE: Patrick Swayze has died
:( Donnie darko, man forgot he was in that. sad indeed although as expressed not unexpected. His `big two` have always affected me deeply - never been able to watch the last ten minutes of Dirty Dancing without cringing uncontrolably i.e. `baby in a corner` and the dance to the camera, I like cheese but come on jees. Also never been able to watch the last ten minutes of Ghost without crying uncontrolably, cheesy I know but as stated i like cheese.
T.O.H. will be crying at work this morning.
R.I.P.
RE: Paul McGrillen R.I.P.
:( shocker - a bit late I know but only just found out. Saw him play against the (Irvine) Meadow last season still had the buzz about him - feel a bit bad for heckling him now.
R.I.P. Sad indeed :(
RE: wii twilight hack with version 4.0
:( no joy. Did all that was asked with regard to the private folder and the elf thing on the sd card. Switched on wii went to channels /sd card installed what was on the card (3 things) but when i exit and enter the homebrew channel the loading screen comes up (with the bubbles) and stays up bubbles and all. that`s it just bubbles.
I have read loads of how to`s and all say (the jist) private folder/elf/ sd card/channels/ install and away you go.
obviously i am thick and am doing something wrong but seriously cant figure out what.
cheers
wii twilight hack with version 4.0
before i start i know i can`t even begin to install or run or whatever the hack whilst my wii is running 4.0 so my query is this. I have read that if i reset my wii to factory or default settings i.e. not 4.0 i can install the hack and begin the process of hopefully using an external hard drive to run games - firstly is this true? next what do i do if anything with my other channels i.e. internet and wii speak. Surely if i reset they will go, not bothered about internet but can`t get wii speak without a code (seemingly). Is there any way to avoid this?
any advice greatly appreciated.
cheers
RE: Thinking of selling my Wii...
Worth way more than £200 with all that stuff (wii fit, 2 wiimotes). Wrong time of year will probably be the problem though, was for me bumped one of mine recently with 4 good games + 2 wiimotes for £190. - gutted but needed the reddies.
good luck
RE: Prison Break 4 - starts next week on Sky!

Are there 2 pitfall games for the Wii in the immediate offing??
Hi there. Have been waiting for Pitfall: the big adventure to come out on Wii for a while now, despite it looking much like the PS2 game I played to death a few years back. Anyway one is out now around £20 called Pitfall: the big adventure (fun for all) screenshots on back look same as old game yet there is another one scheduled for release end June called Pitfall: the big adventure costing around £30 for which i have seen no shots as yet. If it werent for the screenshots of the f`un for all` game I would have assumed it was a popcorn type effort but appears not to be so if THIS one is the real deal then what is the later and dearer one with the same name all about. Any ideas?
confused I am? :(
cheers
RE: Am i immature for finding this funny?
:) I have as my screensaver a picture I took of the local electrical shop in Stornoway (closed now) from when i lived up there that proudly stated above the door in the form of a big electric sign `We rent Bush`
never got tired of that one
cheers
a few stories for your perusal
You may find them uninteresting but i shall tell them anyway.
Firstly finally succumbed to teeny pressure and purchased our oldest daughter a PS2 for crimbo, a silver one to be precise - matches her room.
Anyway console bought, a dozen games or so bought - harry potters, singstars, scooby doo/spongebob the usual guff. Only thing not purchased was a memory card, a silver one to be precise. We do not live in the city in fact we could not be more rural as far as shopping goes, i have not long finished my work (nightshift) and am soon to embark on the 60 mile journey home. As a result i had to get a local courier company to pick one up at the nearest argos, inverness. ( they do this on a daily basis due to the remote location of us islanders (outer hebs). Anyway i ordered the thing and they went to pick it up but it got `misplaced` somewhere on the way and as a result i was told they would bring it down when it arrived. I never held much hope for it but kept bugging them anyway. Anyway last saturday whilst i was working my wife phoned me enraged to tell me that the courier had indeed brought the card but had seen fit to hand it in its plactic pack to my oldest daughter with the words `there you go dear i hear youv`e been waiting a while for this` What a lovely man - attempted to talk our way out of it but she ain`t 5 anymore surprise (probably) over.
Next a spooky one and all genuinly true.
November 18th (2002) is the date my dad died, coincidentally the same day as James Coburn who my dad admired greatly but that`s not my tale.
This november the 18thd the local school was off due to water repairs but it was not supposed to be. The work was supposed to take place the week before but fell through and instead took place on the 18th. As a result of the school being off our oldest and my wife had the day off - unexpectedly. As we were to be without water we hopped on a bus for our 60 mile trip for shopping, our youngest daughter (aged 2 1/2) does not travel well and was promptly wailing `i`m gonna be sick am gonna be sick!!` This prompted us to book a hire car for the return journey. After shopping i was supposed to lift some money to pay someone the next day but forgot until we got home. As a result i had to go to the bank that evening (a 40 mile round trip by the way). On the way there i put the radio on and found the only station i could pick up due to our mountainous homeland was good old radio 2. On this particular evening they were playing requests all night (and most of the next day i think) for children in need. So there i am on the 18th going on a journey i shouldn`t be doing, in a car i shouldn`t have listening to the only music i can and what comes on but the stones and `(this could be) the last time` Now the relevance here is not the expected `one on my dad`s favourites` but actually that that song was on the radio the last time i saw my dad alive, about 2 hours before he died as i sat in a car park and he passed by working. The reason i remembered the song that day was that i actually remember thinking that it COULD be the last time i saw him as he was ill with heart trouble. spooky i can tell you.
Finally i read a post about christmas parties earlier on and remembered this sorry tale from my bakery days. The bakery i worked in was a small private one and the christmas do`s were stuff of legend. Free bar, 5 course dinner, transport laid on really good night out. Anyway sure enough the year i was there the rumour started that the night out had been set for (lets say) the 16th in a flashy glasgow hotel if i remember rightly. Whilst working one day the boss`s wife, who was the office lady, shouted me in and asked if i had heard about the night out on the 16th, i of course replied that i had and eagerly waited for some reply asking for my prescence there when she said ` are you o.k. to work that night yeah?` gutted does not suffice.
You are all going to think I`m stupid!!!
Right troops a blast from the past here. I recently acquired my daughter`s PS1 and have been playing Oddworld Abe`s Odyssey ever since. However I cannot seem to get off, eh,... level hmm.. eh.. one! Yes that`s right one. I have found the exit, the spaceship thingy that takes me to level two, but when I get there the door to leave the docking pad thing is closed.
I am assuming I need to find/save more guys on level one. I seem to be at a dead end at the part of the level where the bomb machine is. If I leave the level at this point ( via a ledge on the right)I enter another level, kill all the guys I haven`t found and can only go three screens before I get stuck. If I go the other way at the bomb bit I meet a laser barrier thingy that I for love nor money cannot seem to find the switch for. I think I need to find this switch. Does anyone know/ can anyone remember where it is?
Demented.
I have no access to a P.C. during the week normally so I probably won`t be able to check all the wonderful replies I shall no doubt recieve until next week. Plenty of time to help me then!!
Thanks
Me.
RE: technosonic DTRV 1 S dvd/tv combi region hack.
Don`t get excited I haven`t found one but whilst farting about with my brother`s machine yesterday I found that the old favourite `1379` was at least opening up the menu containing the current region. I was however unable to change it. However (positive one this time) look down this forum until you see Jaxx looking for a hack for his bush dvd conbi. Upon reading you will find that a very, very nice man by the name of Clayton can direct you to a number of hacks based around 1379. I am hoping that one of these will be successful.
If you get it to work by 5pm today let me know so I can try it when I get home from `studying` ahem in my uni library.
Good luck and thanks Clayts.
cheers.
