Here`s the latest trailer for Bay`s remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, with some new scenes added.

So what are your thoughts, now that you`ve got a good idea of the movie.

It looks about as nuanced and sophisticated as you`d expect from a Platinum Dunes production, directed by a guy who has made his living making music videos and is entering the world of feature films under the tutelage of Michael Bay.

I`ll stick to the DVD of the original.

I lost interest a while ago when I read that we were to be getting an emo Nancy. Freddy`s played by the bloke from Watchmen.

I quite liked some of the originals, I think every other one was watchable fun. Completely agree about the new guy playing Freddie being somewhat non-scary based on those trailers. In fact the entire trailers seemed to be rather lacking in creepyness.

It`s going to suck isn`t it. Remake in sucker shocker. :o

The original ANOES is a classic, and although I`m a fan of the increasingly comedic sequels, I can see why some aren`t. The series is a very mixed bag overall. You have the incredibly homoerotic part two, the pretty decent third part where the comic overtones were just about right, and then from part four Freddy starts to go all MTV and it becomes more about him and his one-liners. Part six is a fekkin` shocker, but New Nightmare is decent enough.

It`s like Friday the 13th which, compared to the other horror movies around at the time, wasn`t particularly special but is a beacon of brilliance compared to Marcus Nispel`s abymal remake.

One of my cinema wishes is for Platinum Dunes to go bust and never have anything to do with film again - there`s still that remake of The Birds that Michael Bay has had on the table for some time...

The Friday the 13th remake is abysmal even by that series` standards.

Part 4 was directed by Renie Harlen which is why it was MTVish a jokey. Part 5 was twisted, and down right nasty in places. Part 6 was a bunch of ideas thrown in whilst trying to do a Twin Peaks at the same time, when the kids get to Springfield, and all the folks are acting strange.

Jason Takes Manhattan was better than the Shatinum Dunes` remake.

Next on the remake list from Shatinum Dunes are, The Birds, Rosemary`s Baby, and Monster Squad. :/
