Romero is in advanced negotiations to helm a stereoscopic remake in English of Argento`s cult classic, according to sources.

The Romero-helmed 3D "Deep Red" redo is being set up as an Italo-Canadian co-production by Italian producer Claudio Argento via his Opera Film shingle. Robbie Little`s The Little Company is preselling the pic in Cannes.

Claudio Argento, who is Dario`s brother and regular producer, has penned the screenplay for Romero`s redo.

Dario Argento will not be involved in Romero`s remake in any guise.

He has lost his grip on what made his such a great director.

Romero is now officially out of original ideas and, judging by Survival of the Dead, has lost his way as a top director as well.

With the news that Dario Argento is going to do a 3-D version of Dracula, I`m beginning to wonder if all great horror directors have simultaneously lost their minds.

Making Deep Red in 3-D? That`s a sign of losing your mind, not your mojo. Argento hasn`t made a film worthy of his talent for a while: Mother of Tears was disappointing, Phantom of the Opera extremely disappointing and The Card Player wasn`t too brilliant either.

I`d love to see them back on form, making films of the quality that made them such genre legends in the first place.

No, not yet. I normally would have rushed to buy it, but I haven`t heard great reviews -- some people say it`s terrible -- so I`m not in an awful hurry to go out and buy the DVD.
