Marvel: The Avengers film

Thought may aswell start a thread as I think it`s just been mentioned in a few seperate ones and all the casting and everything is coming together now.

Confirmed this week that Ed Norton is out as Hulk and at the moment it looks like Mark Ruffalo is in.

So Joss Whedon directing and cast so far is:

Robert Downey Jnr- Iron Man
Chris Evans- Captain America
Chris Hemsworth- Thor
Jeremy Renner- Hawkeye
Scarlett Johansen- Black Widow
Samuel L Jackson- Nick Fury

Is interesting as Iron Man 2 was a bit meh for me, plus Captain America and Thor are obviously yet to come out first.  Got some good actors in the roles though (Chris Evans I actually think is good actor also, as tends to be seen as bit of a pretty boy in some corners).

Yeah there`s a new album, I`m liking it.

Basically I`ve never listened to them before, but they were going to be on before Groove Armada at Glastonbury so I thought I was going to see them at the time I started giving them a blast.

Need to give it more of a listen, but it`s very minimalistic at times because it`s just the two of them bit like the old White Stripes stuff and early Kings of Leon stuff is the lazy comparison I`m going to offer.

They`re touring in October and I`m trying to convince someone to come see them with me.

So who`s playing Steed and Mrs Peel?

The Avengers my ar*e. The Beeb should`ve had the name under copyright.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

Interesting...BBC`s show started in 1961.
The US comic was first published in 1963.

Wonder whether either applied for the trademark/copyright (whatever`s needed).

FWIW, The Avengers TV series was made by ABC Television, part of Associated British Picture Corporation.  They were taken over by EMI (and all the boardroom crap that saga entails), eventually bought out by Jerry Weintraub specifically for the rights to make the 1999 fiasco, and the series assets wound up with current owners Studio Canal, whose Optimum label is in the process of re-releasing the series on DVD.

Fifty points for Trivial Pursuit for me, I think.

As for the Marvel thingy, doesn`t it also rip off DC Comics` Justice League of America superhero-clubhouse concept?

Surely that`s only so much as all other super heroes have copied each other?

As for a film, I think it`s interesting as at least Marvel are building a continuous world where all the films link together which builds to this rather than just throwing it out there.

Or continuously rebooting the franchise.  Spiderman/Batman/X-Men/Superman/Fantastic Four I`m looking in your direction.

All the actors seem to be tied in for a quite a few films also (Samuel L Jackson`s was for 9films following his cameo in Iron Man).

Haha, I`m glad I`m not the only one who thought "OH God, please, no!" as I pictured Jude Law as Steed and Winona Ryder as Mrs Peel.

This, on the other hand, looks worth watching out for. I do love a good comic book movie, me.

I`ve put an updated thread title, although it still doesn`t sound quite right.
