Bond 23 Greenlit

MGM has officially announced the next Bond movie will be out in 2012.  As yet Daniel Craig is still in place as 007.  Let`s hope for a return to more traditional form after CR and QOS.

I liked CR and QoS :(

The World is Not Enough was my fave Brosnan one, and tipifies the best of the older formula nicely for me. But I like how the Craig ones are darker, more serious, less gadget obsessed.

The last 2 efforts were dire. The bond novels may be one thing, but the movies are something else entirely, the Daniel Craig movies were straight out of the Bourne mould. Completely straight-laced without a hint of humour or irony, and therefore dull

<html xmlns="">I really liked Casino Royale but wasn`t that keen on Quantum of Solace where the action and plot didn`t quite marry as they had done in previous films.  As I said in my Casino Royale review, I`m not a massive fan of Bond films but I liked that one much more than the last few Pierce Brosnan films which seem to be all about the gadgets and the girl that about Bond and what he`s all about.David

Always been a Bond fan, but the last two have brought a new lease of life to the franchise & given a much deeper insight into Bond & his motivations.

Character development in the past went as far as who was his next squeeze & if she was likely to survive or not, excepting where Roger Moore is at the grave of George Lazenbys deceased wife.

I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.

Never has so little had to be explained by me to so many so often.

I liked Casino Royale, not Quantum of Solace so much, but saying that, i`d have classed it at the same level as the Pierce Brosnan ones as a bit of throw away watch, but nothing to get too excited about.

Die Another Day was pretty bad, I`ve only seen half of it, but even though having a potential interesting start (being in prison, but being cheesy).

I enjoyed the last two Bonds, don`t get me wrong (but then I`m incapable of not enjoying a Bond movie).  My main problem with CR and QoS was that they stepped too far away from the signature elements of the franchise as established, and took Bond into the realms of the Bond-wannabes (like Bourne).  I`m happy for them to explore the character and his motivations, it`s just I don`t want them to turn the franchise into the run of the mill action picture genre when Bond has his own special schtick which sets him aside - Q, M and Moneypenny; the gadgets; the humour; shaken-not-stirred and the megalomaniac baddies with the whacko plans for world domination.
