My dad had a few of the story books, and I remember at school there were a bunch but in French and I was so disappointed!

I obsessed about Asterix as a kid, and wound up buying all the books, even though the last few from Uderzo fell a little flat in my estimation.

Since then, there have been new writers and artists, first Ferri and Conrad, and most recently Fabcaro and Conrad. There have been six more books since Uderzo's death, and I  tried the first two, Asterix and the Picts and Asterix and the Missing Scroll, but they're not a patch on even the worst of the originals.

There is live actor films of Asterix (English dubbed), as I remember one that gave me quite a chuckle about Asterix and pals arriving at the Roman arena and being in the games and outwitting the Romans :D
