Page 1 of XBOX or Playstation??

I`m having great difficulty on deciding whether to purchase the XBOX or Playstation2. The XBOX is the superior console but the playstation has a far greater selection of games.

Plus does any know if Command and Conquer: Yuri`s Revenge, and any decent fighter plane games are going to be realeased in the near future on the XBOX (would be great games to play online on the the new boradband live service)

Well I`d recommend a PS2 for the games. There is no point in buying a console that is more powerful if you are not going to play it.

Plus the PS2 has GTA Vice City, which is one of the best games ever made. You can`t say that about a single game on the X-Box.

Lol. Vice City is a rehash of an old game with no new ideas and rubbish graphics.

Get an Xbox, finally the games are coming and there`s plenty to chose from.

Splinter Cell is a far better game that GTA3 or Vice City is EVERY respect for example, an instant classic.

I`m not even going to comment on the Xbox vs. PS2 debate as this has been covered to death already on this forum. Just check previous threads as this is all getting a bit boring now.

Although I must comment on Chris`s "Vice City" slagging. Clearly you haven`t played this game a great deal as its absolutely awesome. Possibly the best game of all time. I never liked GTA3 but this game is fantastic. The graphics aren`t rubbish, they`re perfect for this game - and if you`d played it you would see it has plenty of new ideas.

Go for Xbox - Chris is right. Far superior, with good games finally emerging. Microsoft will have their day...

There really isn`t any point getting an xbox anymore. when ps2 and xbox finally get online next year xbox will be competing directly with the pc market rather than against the ps2. that is because more of the mutli-palyer games coming out will be both xbox and pc. assuming you have a pc ( how else would you post here lol) why just get a downgraded pc (xbox) as well? especially with the poor controller that the xbox provides. the only real online gaming option at the moment is the dreamcast, which surprisingly in that respect is far superior than both the xbox and ps2 strange! gamecube will have online gaming but its not really an option unless you are 10 years old or under as most of the games are aimed at that market with a few exceptions. the ps2 is the poorer of the other console hardware but has a vast array of games and will offer different online games than the xbox and pc offering the same. if you didnt have a computer id say get an xbox, but seeing as you do own one just get a ps2

No I do have Vice City, I also have GTA3. I played the first to death, Vice City is a good game yes, but ultimately it is a reworked GTA3, same game, different missions a few tweaks etc. And I`m sorry, the graphics are not good compared to the best Xbox games, very few PS2 games can cut the mustard now, too jaggy and too low resolution textures.

Xbox a stripped down PC? In that regard, all consoles are stripped down PCs as they allow you to play games through joypads rather than through the keyboards, etc.

Look: Xbox and PS2`s both use controllers, they both play DVD`s as well as games and they both are marketed towards the instant gratification consoles provide.

And, as an aside, to buy a PS2 with the same amount of save memory as an Xbox you`d have to spend upwards of £20000! Suddenly that PC interior isn`t as bad looking.
