Page 1 of Life in the old dog yet?
Gaming and Consoles Forum
Got a PS1 at Crimbo, yes a PS1, and although I have managed to pick up a whack of games on the cheap I was wondering if anyone had any idea of how long new games would be produced for this once mighty console what with the introduction of his much superior big brother.
Also whilst I am on can any of you remember the old playstation game in which you, as the detective, were at a party in a rich mansion type place and someone was murdered upstairs.
Anyway it was a live action game where a magician was the baddie and you played a daft chess type game with him at the end with whatever objects you had managed to acquire during the game which also depended on whom you spoke to.
It boasted dozens of endings but I only remember being kind of brain dead and being looked after by a rather hot chick.
Any ideas?
Given the huge userbaser of the PS1, I`d imagine games will still come out for a while.
There`s plenty to be had on the cheap as you say, GAME for example have lots of pre-owned stuff, and there`s always lots to be had on ebay for a few pounds.
To be honest, there hasn`t been a *major* PS1 release for 2 or 3 years now - it`s all licenced tat like Britney Spears and Harry Potter, reminiscent of the crap that came out for the Mega Drive and SNES after the PS1 and Saturn had been released. Most development has been switched to the PS2 and other newer consoles.
Fortunately there`s still a huge back catalogue of decent games to choose from, and most of them are at bargain bucket prices - so why worry about new releases?
For what it`s worth, I still spin up the old PS1 for a game of Einhander occasionally - it`s funny how most of the (at the time) cutting-edge 3D games look laughably dated now, but the traditional 2D shoot `em ups are still as fresh as the day I first played them.

That game sounds a lot like Night Trap or something, which wasn`t a PS1 game, but a Mega CD game. May be I`m wrong though.
There was one on the ps1, was it not psychic detective?
It does sound like Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective, which was out on the Mega CD, and has more recently surfaced as an interactive DVD.

No it was Psychic detective, Flicked about after I got the name and it all came flooding back.
