007 nightfire help me please!!

I`m a recent PS2 purchaser and have got 007, i know this sounds bad, but on the first real mission one of the objectives is to recover the guiding thing from the safe room, i get to the safe room open it, i cant kill the blokes with the laser as Q asks so i shoot them, but there is no thingy, i kill every man and even go to the cable car, where am i going wrong, its driving me mad!!

In the room you`re talking of you need to go up to the safe and use your laser cutter thing on the hinges.
