Page 1 of Playstation 3 Announced !!!

Apparently this one has a built-in DVD recorder, TV tuner, 120Gig Hard drive and downloadable options galore.

Whoa! Read it again. What they`ve announced is actually just a re-designed *Playstation 2*, with a built-in DVD recordable drive and other gubbins. Confusingly, they`ve decided to call this the `PSX`, which was also the codename given to the original Playstation... oh well.

The Playstation 3 *hasn`t* been announced yet. "Sony remained coy" ... "Speculation has heated up" ... "Several analysts are talking about late 2004 or early 2005" ... in other words, no bugger knows when the PS3 is going to come out ;-)

The all encompassing PSX entertainment unit is expected to cost circa £500+ when released. It does look nice finished in brushed silver (or is it chamgagne gold?).

As for PS3, some quarters have even suggested 2007 for a PS3 debut. There`s still a lot of untapped potential in the machine, with only the likes of Polyphony Digital pushing the machine further than any other developer. You only need to see GT4 to witness this.

PS2 still continues to sell well today (though I don`t have a need to have one). IMO, Sony will likely make announcements to developers of PS3 as a spoiling tactic once word about XBox 2 gets out.
