Page 1 of My new Slimline PS2 lasted only 2 days lol

Has anyone else had this same problem with the new slimline Playstation 2?

All of a sudden it won`t read discs anymore, thankfully Sony are sending out someone on Christmas Eve with a replacement otherwise I would have been really really mad ;)

nice to see sony are still quality conscious ;)

I had a Christmas job a few years ago at Currys. The manager sensibly kept 5 PS2s in the store cupboard ready for ppl on Boxing day to return their broken ones! Annoyed the salesmen that the manager wouldn`t let them sell them in the run up to Christmas, but good customer relations.

Glad to hear Sony are sorting yours out, if you had left in to the store you got it from you could be in trouble!

With the originl PlayStation they would swap a refurbished one for yours if you had the FMV skipping/lens alignment problem, for an "admin" charge to cover the courier I guess.

Correct me if i`m wrong, but haven`t they removed the fan? Good idea, boys....

I`ve had my plain old PS2 for 4 years. Not a thing has gone wrong with it. Then again, unlike all the people i know who`s consoles have packed up, i don`t feed it discs covered in grime. ;)

In regards to the overheating - There is some boring small print in the instructions saying you should take a 15 min break from your ps2 every hour. - Maybe sony taking the fan out is their way of enforcing this, or risk melting your slimline griddle. (or more likely a cost/size saving exercise at the expense of performance/reliability)


Bring back PS2`s that sound like hovercraft!

That`s just Sony covering themselves so you can`t sue them for getting Repetitive Strain Injury in your hands!

All those repetitive tiny movements with your hands don`t do them any good you know.(and I`m talking about playing the PS2, before any Finbarr Saunders types get the wrong idea!)
