Page 1 of xbox 360 - vertical or horizontal?

As there seems to be quite a number of 360 owners here I would just like to know if which position you are using it in?
Ive had mine for about a week and had it vertical to begin with but found that the game I had played most had become scratched and unreadable, also the disc tray was dropping slightly and not opening.
I did some some research on the web and it appears the drive units lack some stabilisers inside which can cause the discs to get scratched. I have since moved mine to the horizontal position, lying on top of my original xbox, I managed to clean the scratches off the disc that would not work and it seems to be ok now.

I`m a Horizontal gamer also for the exact reasons already described by both of you!

I dont have kids, so i leave mine pointing skyward. Looks cooler, and since it leaves a smaller footprint, i can put it next to the telly, rather than taking up a slot in the AV unit. Plus it is far better ventiated up on its side, out in the open, which should help prolong its life.

I hide my power brick behind the telly and you`d barely know it was there. Except for the f***ing racket it makes.......

Apparently there are several bearings in the 360 that are used to orientate it. When you change directions while its on the bearings decend and scratch the disk.

Ive not had so much as a fingerprint on any of my discs so far *touches wood*, so im happy with mine upright.
