Page 1 of 80gb ps3 or ps3 slim
Gaming and Consoles Forum
right basically amazon are saying i never ordered my ps3 from the other day and now the deal has gone :(
so been to gamestation today and have done well for my xbox 360 on store credit. theyre options on the slim are pretty s***e, so was just planning on keeping store credit for future use as they are quite good for prices on new games at times.
was looking though and they have the 80gb fat ps3 for two hundred and ten pounds with uncharted two, so effectively about one hundered and eighty five for the console.
ive got external drives anyway so the additional space wouldnt probably be of much benefit, any other advantages on slim apart from bit less likely to overheat?
any opinions?

RE: 80gb ps3 or ps3 slim
i`d go for the slim if the funds can stretch to it, the 45nm chipset should use less power & run cooler, which in turn will hopefully make it more reliable...
hope this helps.

just talking about my netbook and other problems and im thinking that going for the most reliable option might be for the best. so no other differences between the two

so no other differences between the twoThere are others but they may not affect /bother you.
Including:

no power switch on back

can`t install second OS (linux)

can decode the HD audio formats instead of sending it `as is` and letting your amp do it. Means you get a nice light on the amp saying DTS-HD etc...
We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..
I`ve got a 60gb fat and my lad has a 250gb slim and I wouldn`t hesitate to get a slim. The 60gb space is getting tight on mine and I don`t have any movies or such like on there, just a few games bought off PSN and the data that every game installs on the HDD.
The slim is quieter and much smaller.

Could someone please
Remove these cutleries
From my knees...
It looks like the fat may soon have its security broke open and exploited, indications are that this may not extend to the slim.

Another reason to go for the slim one then.
That is of course what you were trying to say right? ;)
RE: RE: 80gb ps3 or ps3 slim
tbh, i can`t really hear much difference between my 80GB and my new 250GB slim except that
the BD drive access seems to be a bit noisier on the slim?
not fussed though as it looks the bollocks under the tv and doesn`t attract finger prints & dust like
a **** does flies.

Right looks like the Slim is the option to go for then.
To be honest I`m thinking to myself the £55 extra won`t benefit, but I`m sure long term the reliability should do me well. I`d hope :D
Cheers.
Now all I need to do is find a decent deal.
What do you reckon on 250gb Slim with Uncharted 2 for £265, is that an alright deal?
I`m obviously not happy with that deal as until last friday for £264 I had 250gb slim, Uncharted 2, Bioshock 2 and HMDI cable, but that was a really good deal which disappeared within a day.
Plus it means I can use my store credit at Gamestation for a chunk of it, rather than holding it back.

****s sake appears they have increased the deal on PS3 with Uncharted instore at Gamestation, its now £280, which seems a bit pricey.
Also they dont have any fat PS3s 80gb either, although they are still being advertised instore.
Problem is Ive found this out after Ive got £158 store credit there.
If I buy from there now will feel obliged to get the £300 deal which is the same but include AVP plus Mirrors Edge. Dont really want to pay that much in all honesty as pretty definate I will be ending up back in my mums house now anyway, so it literally will be a second PS3/ blu ray player.
