Best Opening Sequence In A Movie?

Westy (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 13th June 2002, 13:27

Trawling through the collection to try out my new tv last night, and just threw Star Wars VCD in the player.

My word, the opening sequence still has that air of excitement and quality after all these years; those quiet bars of music followed by the crash of the orchestra, then the huge rumble of an Imperial Destroyer emptying its arsenal! Brilliant!

So, as in the words of the thread title.

Maximum of 5 please!

Westy

Here`s my faves...

1)Indiana Jones- (All 3)
4)The Spy Who Loved Me (I still worry if the parachute will open)
5)True Lies

for me apart from star wars i love Apocalypse Now. having just upgraded to dolby digital, this opening blew me away more than ever. the sound of the chopper around you in tandem with The End playing by The Doors is simply brilliant!

Saving Private Ryan, although I`m not entirely sure if you can technically call the 30 minutes the opening scene as I think theres a tiny bit before it.

If we can stretch this to an opening sequence then Evil Dead 2 still rules!

Terminator 2, up to the end of the credit sequence, before any of the scenes with the more than slightly irritating John Connor.

Fight Club!

Pretty kick ass in DD5.1, in a creepy kind of way.

i know that it`s a bit sad and nerdy (and a bit too film fanaticish) but sunset boulevard and especially citizen kane are both incredible...i`ll get my coat then...
