Is anyone here into MUDs?

If you have to ask what one is then you obviously have no interest in MUDs, but if you do and would fancy helping out with a little project let me know. ;)

Are they still text based these days or in full glory colour and graphics as per the Ultima stuff.

Just curious, not a fan myself. Bring back scott adams and infogram!

Maybe I should have explicitely stated text only MUDs... :)

Used to play loads when I was at Uni - probably the one I liked most was batMUD followed by Zombie and Kobra.

Once I left and got a dial up connection the lag put me off completely.

I did here a rumour that there was one that you could play on the mobile phone network.

Rob, it`s been a long time since I`ve played one, but yeah, why not. Let me know if I can be of any help. :-)

No, but I`d like to be ;-)

I should have got into them years ago, really - I loved the old single-player text adventures on computers like the BBC Micro, and the idea of MUDs is very appealing, but the whole MUD scene has always seemed a bit arcane and inaccessible and that has put me off. That might just be down to the sites I`ve visited, though. If you know of a good "MUDs for complete dummies" guide, I`d love to read it.

Actually I will repent, I`ll give it a go. Always did like the text adventures of old and grappling with a spastic parser.
